Hi Group, July 2nd, 07.
Monday 14:15 Hrs, M.D.T.

Looking Over the June/July Micro Train Cars, I see Some
Interesting Observations. Notice the CentreBeam Has Been
Out B 4 in Milwaukee Road. I do Like the Bulk End Flat Car with
the Pipe Loads and the C.N. Gondola with the Wood Loads.
Will also Get the 2 Bay B.N. Green Round Sides as Well as
I'm a B.N. Fan. What was Most Interesting? Try the Micro Train
13 M Length Box Car in "Arcade & Aitca". Why. Its Because I
Have an Original "Arcade & Atica Car That Con Cor Came Out
with in the Early 70s. Made By Kato When Kato Made Cars for
Con Cor in that Time Period.
I'll B Keeping My Original, But Micro Trains Isn't the 1st
One Out with the Arcade & Atic Name. I'll Have an Original with a
Roof Walk and a Modern Car With Out a Roof Walk.
Most Interesting.

Thanks Group.

I did a pretty extensive writeup of the Micro-Trains Arcade and Attica boxcar in the UMTRR for June, now on the website, and another version of it for the next issue of The N Scale Collector. The story of the A&A is quite interesting!

I also have the Con-Cor version. I'll see if I can do a comparison shot later.

Here's the Arcade and Attica pair... on the left is the Con-Cor, from thirty plus years ago, and on the right is the recent Micro-Trains release.

This was shot with available light down in the basement so the shades may be a bit off, but the Con-Cor is more orange and the MTL car is more yellow.

And for you "Rivet Counters", except for the door and roof walk(which is correct on the MTL car), the Con-Cor is closer in looks to the prototype picture.
Not that I would care........

Actually, the door on the MTL model is technically not the right width. It should be eight feet wide, although it is a Superior Door per the prototype.
