I am test building the Lunar Rover (from the movie "MOON") that was designed by Marco Scheloske (of http://www.paperaviation.de).

The instructions are in German (unfortunately I do not speak German), but that is OK. The diagrams that illustrate how the parts go together are very good and quite straight forward. I have not have any problems following them.

I have started with the wheels. There are 15 parts for just one wheel (and there are six wheels in all). As you can see there is a great deal of detail on the wheels that is very tempting to do. Since this is a test build, I have decided to forgo the detailing and focus on the testing the model first.

The Rover comes in the same scale like the Landram (hint - hint! :twisted:).

@RF: They are both the same scale? OK. I knew that it would be a good size, but that puts things into more perspective.

It is 1:32 or 1:24 (got to take a look at the booklet again). It is a joint venture of Martin Saenger and Marco Scheloske (I think Martin was the designer, Marco made the printing and cover art). The kit was a free giveaway for visitors of the Spacedays, Darmstadt 2012. I have the printed version! :mrgreen:

I just looked at the cover. It is 1:24 scale.
 
The wheels of the Lunar Rover were made from a metal mesh with strips of metal attached. There is another smaller wheel on the inside for particularly hard hits. The Mesh also acted as a shock absorber. I almost think that for this model, screen door steel mesh, shaped, (which shapes easily) and paper strips would be easier to attach. You would have to make a torus, but making two halves, then bringing them together would not be very hard. :)

I am sorry but I am working on the Lunar Rover from the movie "MOON", not the REAL LUNAR ROVER.
