When I first signed on on December 20, 2000 The Guage was but 5 days old.... There was a different owner, different members, different administrator.. different format...
I was asked to be a moderator of this new fledging board and I accepted... The Builder's Plate was my creation, when I was asked for any ideas for a new forum...
I moderated about 8 Gauge forums through the year 2003 mostly because there were few regular members and fewer mods. As the moderators grew in experience, they decided one-by-one to start forums of their own. I helped start one and a few of us moderated for a time there along with our Gauge duties. It wasn't bad, because of the traffic on both forums.
The Gauge started changing and growing. The new owner (Peter T Davis) came in, made changes for the better and we took off.... A few members moved on, as will always happen with change... the Admin left and I was asked to become the new Admin.. I accepted and have proudly Administrated here ever since
I have had a few Administrators working along with me, the newest being ezdays. We work together, behind the scenes, along with our moderators to help everyone have a pleasant experience most every time they visit.
What makes our job a bit easier than the norm?? Our members, a bunch of respectable people that trade information and have fun... and who are not afraid to bring things to our attention (Reporting posts etc). You all help us a lot!!
As far as things going on: There are some of us participating in The Gauge Party, a way to hone our scratchbuilding skills and "show off" a bit. There is also, since we have become so big, a donation section that we actually need to ensure our continued ability to visit here and have fun with our friends. Remember - this is a privately owned board.
The last thing and largest change was the new server and the addition (merging) of the Slot Car, R/C forum and the Card modelers forum.. (Where I spend a bit of time) - if you haven't yet.. GO!!!!! LOOK!!!! Some of these models will take your breath away, especially if you remember the Cold War Space Race... Amazing!!!! Who would have thought, you could abandon Plasticville for cardboard!!!

As we look to the year ahead, "Lucky Seven" one of the neatest things happening is that The Gauge E-mag (Thanks eightyeightfan1) will be returning after the new year, after a hiatus that was way too long!!
We hope to make it a quarterly magazine again. Please consider submitting any ideas for inclusion in the Mag. In the past, we have had spotlights of members and layouts, New Products and even a puzzle or two.
................ Well, "here's" to Lucky Seven!!!! aussie Thanks for your input, Thanks to Peter for making this happen... Thanks to the Moderating Staff for their work and Thanks to all the members for being here!!!!
