Let the debate begin...

Anything from Digital Navy will sure be a winner. Michael Urban did one Oregon version on this site a ways back and it was awesome. There are still 2 other versions to be done. The Oslabaya is pretty cool just looking at her. The Shiskashima from GPM should probably work out fairly well, I don't have that one yet. The some of the russians, though good subjects come from companies that have "iffy" track records for fit at times. HMV is another great fit company, and I haven't seen or owned any Orels. My 1st pick as above would be Digital Navy! Good luck!
 
One of the Orel kits would work for me.. As I have a couple of these, and for selfish reasons alone I would love to see someone do a build to see if they run into any problems..;-)

What ever you do, it'll be great following any ship build thread..

I bought HMV's Maine on impulse during a closeout sale awhile ago. It's beyond my current skill level, but I hope to do it justice someday.

Full disclosure: I'll provide a helpful link here from our sister site at kartonbau to give you head's up on some issues the kit has. to quote in part; "A model thrown into the market without having checked for flaws by test-building. . .nevertheless. . .a fine result is possible."

Looks like his is not the only kartonbau build report on the Maine either.

As they say in Germany, "Viel SpaB!" (have fun!)

USS Heermann................... destoryers against battleships............. big cahonas!

USS HEERMANN (DD 532)

HEERMANN was the only surviving destroyer of Taffy III. At the outset of the engagement she laid protective smoke in the rear of the escort carriers with the smaller DE's. When the word, "small boys - intercept," was ordered by RADM Sprague, she bravely turned to attack the heavy cruisers and battleships of Centre Force. Although none of her torpedoes found their target, almost better results were realized. The mighty Japanese battleship HIJMS YAMATO was forced to comb her torpedo wakes and was subsequently placed out of position for the remainder of the action. After her torpedoes were expended, she bravely engaged the Japanese warships with 5-inch gunfire. She was hit several times and was notably down by the bow before the action concluded. Her superb action in defense of the escort carriers proudly shows that she was most likely the only U.S. destroyer in World War II to engage heavy cruisers and battleships directly and survive.
