Hello guys!!

After half an hours rest....it's time to start the next big project!
Since my first model from Draf was IMHO 100% perfectly designed, I just had to make the next model from Rafal as well!
This time the LeFh 18/40 (leichte Feldhaubitze 18/40) kal.105mm

The Kit

I will start with the wheels.
Here is the drawing.


And the parts for ONE wheel ready.....157 parts just for the rim and spokes..


First out are the spokes.Each spoke contains 9 parts.


First I assembled the inner structure.


Then I started to put the 3 covers on.


Here are the parts for the front part of the spoke


The part is cutted out and I will shape it half tubed


When the two front parts are in place,the tube that will cover the rest of the spoke is shaped


And the spoke is done....11 to go...

Excellent job so far! What are you using for the inner structure?
 
With all 12 spokes done it was time to put things together.

The spokes are placed into slots in the ring


Then the other ring is placed


Then it was the inside cover


Some parts was to be placed around the root of the spokes.


All parts glued in place


With the center plate in place all got painted and the inner part of the wheel is done.

Continuing with making the outer part of the tyre.
First the inside of the rim.


When the inside was on....and it fitted 100% I'm amazed that I didn't have to trim that part,but I glued it butt to butt!!
I made the first section of the tyre


I make one section at the time since I think it's easier to have the roadside of the tyre aligned with it's proper segment....did that make any sence?


Here is the road part of the tyre.Two smaller strips on each end and one bigger in the middle


When the roadside was done it was time to strt cutting letters


They make a really good 3d effect on the tyreside


With all letters in place,the tyre was painted again with a new color I got mixed today,and it's finished on this side.


Next will be the brake system.

My gosh man! Doesn't making those tiny letters hurt? More importantly, how are you doing it!

I start with the lower part.


Then two rings are placed on top of the base.


A coned part goes down in the hole.


And some arrangement on top of it


The base for the adjustment screw


The screw in place....soryy for the blurried pic!


And the rear side is another step closer to complete :)


Now I'm off work for 4 weeks...going to skiathos Greece in two weeks time!!

Gasp! No!!!! Don't leave! WE must see more of your work! If not, at least bring your supplies with you :)

The frame that supports the wheels and the barrelslide arrangement.Vacations are now over , and the work on the LeFh continues!!

The drawings


I started with building the inner structure of 0,5mm laserparts. And with the usual DrafModel presicion every piece was 100% fit.


Then there was to put on the skin and add some perifer parts here and there to complete the main part of the frame.


Added the rest of the skins,and the part is almost ready to be painted.

I made the two supporters for the front lower arrangement that will hold some showels and other stuff.

Continuing with the adjustment construction ( man who knows all the names for theese parts??)
It's the frame where the barrel will be added later....

First a couple of drawings.


Parts are glued to 0,5mm karton. Each part will be laminated out of 3 parts X 0,5mm.


Parts ready for assemble.


Here I have glued the parts together and the main frame is ready to come together.


Next parts was the vertical adjustment gear.


Inserted to the casing


And some metalwork

Now I was to make the gears and wheel for the horizontal movement adjustment gears.

First a couple of drawings.

And inserted together with the adjustment wheel


Next was the outside gearbox for the vertival adjustment.

An Idea came floating along when I was making adjustment wheels.
O-Rings!! Comes in a lot of different sizes.


After mounting rest of the gear transmissions the part was done.

SOOOOO the build continues after a "little" break :)

Rolling and shaping such long and coned cylinders isn't always the easyest thing to do...but with some patience and careful shaping its not that bad to make.

Not very difficult to make this part.Just a few metal parts missing.

I have never built one of these so I don't know about the perfection, partly because it is hidden by the perfection you have shown in building it!! Superb!! I just realized the scale, tremendous! :)
