Kato & Accumate couplers

I was just singing the praises of my new Kato sd80mac, but ... is it me, or are Kato's couplers not compatible with Atlas Accumate couplers? I just tried coupling up the the Kato engine with an Atlas car and they just don't seem to fit :confused: Is this an issue for anyone else?

I seem to have a lot of problems with Atlas to MT couplers coming undone also so evin tho MT makes great couplers I switch them out for the most part with Atlas couplers
 
I switch all of my couplers out to MT, that way, everything always stays connected.
I found that the Atlas couplers wouldn't even stay connected to each other, even with only 10 or 15 cars. MT's will hold a 50 car train up a grade with no problem.
