Mike, don't forget about the SOO SD60's. You don't seem to have any of those on your layout. Why not have a freelance RR and use your current layout to run it on rather than wait for the next layout? As for your CP fleet, the variety could be the various paint schemes worn by CP's SD40-2's :)

I had the chance to see one of the new AC4400's run at my LHS today and I must admit that it's a VERY nice engine. The working ditch light kick butts. It's more quiet than a box of rocks and runs extra-smooth. My advice is get some of these if you can fit them on your layout!!!

I call my layout semi-freelance. San Francisco Bay Area with the Northwestern Pacific that is almost a Class 1 railroad with a modern harbor hub that actually closed down 60 years ago.
There are to many rules in this world and I don't won't to put up even more rules and regulations, especially in my hobby.

That was my idea too! :thumb: I got two of them and painted them over the weekend.

Still have some details to do and decoders,but they are pretty close.
About those warning stickers, Most of them on the n-scale decal sheet are too small to read. Just match the color and size. :)
 
I have several of these (Kato AC4400) in HO scale and they are great locos. I had four painted in fantasy railroad:

It looks great. I have painted one of them but the paint did not work out. It turn out that my Aztek airbrush gun has a leak and I had to sent it in for repair/exchange.
I am out of commison for the next two or three weeks.
Bye the way. Did you paint the railings too and did you use the regular color for that?

I must comment......These are one of the finest locomotives made in N scale. The performance is probably the best ever and the looks are excellent too although the only thing that doesn't make these the best looking N scale locomotives is the fact that there arent sunshades nor painted handrail ends...However with 30 minutes of work these can be made even better than they already are.....I was originally going to buy some Atlas 2 bay centerflows but when I saw the UP Building America's my jaw dropped. The ditchlights are awesome, along with LED's.

Yep, that would do it Sandro! You will almost have as many AC4400's as CP Rail! It's going to take you a while to renumber 48 of them. :)
 
I STILL don't have mine yet, so I don't know for sure, but I know the KATO SD70's had a messed up coupler housing and you have to put a shim in to convert them to a MT, maybe it's the same. Does anyone know for sure what model of Digitrax decoder fits in these?
 
Excellent repaint, Roland. How much are you charging for that service? Whatever the cost... I'll take 2. But seriously.... If Kato were to come out with them in SP paint; I might have to increase my inventory to 6 AC4400s. Right now I have two BNSFs and 2 UPs (one of each style).

SD90- Do you think the decoders that fit into the C44-9s would work for the AC4400s? I am anxious to find out what would fit without much modification if any. I would hate for them to stay Analog for too long.
