Junk Yard Pictures...Trackside!

A comment make by a fellow Gauge member about my photo contest entry got me to thinking about posting some pictures of my trackside junk yard. These weren't good enough for the contest, but someone may find them interesting. This junk yard is full of "bugs."

U did a nice detail job to those cars. They look very realistic.
How did u get them that way?

Haul them to a secluded spot and let Mother Nature age them!

Actually, using acrylic paints I paint them a suitable color; give them a dry brushing of a rusty color (like iron oxide); then, when that is dry, give them a "wash job" using black with lots of water until I get the detail that I want. I may finish with more dry-brushed rust if the highlights were lost in the "wash."

Yeah, that's the ticket, I love junk and the used look on anything, it looks just more natural.

Thanks for all the nice comments. It isn't often that people compliment me on what wonderful junk I have.

The junk piles were resin castings that I painted. I don't remember who the manufacturer was, but I think it was Period Miniatures.
