Hi everyone and thanks for the positive comments. This project has been a lot of fun to work on, and I hope we can do some future challenges here -- keeps me motivated!
I've had some time to finish up detail work on this project, so this post will be the last before the deadline. There are a couple of things that still could be added -- I've got three stray lpb half painted on the workbench, the raw materials for gutters adn downspouts, and at some point I want to add interior detail and lighting to the garage. At this point, I'm kind of sick of working on this, so I think it will sit on a shelf for awhile.
When I started this, I had two main goals: to make a "purse out of a sow's ear" by pushing the limits of a so-so kit and to challenge myself by experimenting with some new materials and techniques (specifically scratchbuilt brickwork, interiors, and fall foliage). With the exception of the interiors, I completed everything I set out to do, although I can see lots of room for improvement.
This was a ton of fun, and thanks to all the others who have participated, commented, and generally made the Gauge a cool place to hang out.
