This is one of hopefully many models from a designer named karenboy over on the PPX Club paper model forum. It is available for purchase only, and yes it cost a pretty penny. But from what I"ve experienced so far a quality kit. I will post pictures of the build as I go along. The fist pic is what it's supposed to look like. We will see if I can come anywhere close to that level of quality!

Here are a few pics of the head as I've gone along. It was originally made on A4 paper, but I had to print it on Letter. So the dreaded "scale to fit" had to be selected as I printed this thing out. On A4 it should be 1/72 scale, but on letter it dropped the size by 11%. So here are the first few pics:

You can't tell from the pics but the paper is actually a metallic paper that reflects with a gold sheen in the right light. A bit soft, it doesn't take folds very well.

Dang! This'll be a beast! Saw this one on PPX, but first saw it on Rarra, Finalpaper, and Opaper. From what've I seen, you're gonna end up with a gem

I'll have to check over on ecardmodels at the paper reference size chart to see what A3 size really is, but if I can take it somewhere and have it printed on a US equivalent.....well let's just say the bigger the better! The only problem with that is the model comes with no color, black line only. I could go through and color each page in Photoshop then have it printed. I would have to have karenboy approve that before I did it though I think. But that's a little ways away at this point!
He also has a Sazabi that he will be releasing very soon. That one is a monster too! And very detailed. I'll find some pics if I can.

A pretty penny. Yeah those are hard to find. Do you have a link to PPX were someone else could buy one of these kits if they chose to? Looks amazing. Is that grey colored paper i see in your pic? Where did you find it? Does it print as grey lines on the black paper? As for the A4 size print. In the past I added paper to the original letter size sheet that I was going to print on with tape. It was just to fool the printer in thinking it was an A4 sheet of paper. Worked out well with no down sizing of original. Helps if you have a program that you could shuffle the parts around for that dreaded time it prints on the seam that you just created.
Rmch-That paper looks gray due to my crummy lighting. It's actually a white paper with a metallic coating on one side. The metallic coating actually gives the paper a gold reflection. I bought it a Officemax here in California. It is made by Wausau Paper. They have a rainbow of colors either under the Metallics name or Pearlescent. The whole model was originally gonna be made from this paper in blue, red, yellow, white and gray. The only proble is that the blue and the gray, I couldn't see the lines on after it printed out. So the blue and gray will be standard cardstock.wall1

Oh Yeah! I'm just looking forward to printing it out larger, either 1/48 or dare I say.......1/35?!?!?!
That head looks good. The metallic paper really sets it off. Very nice. Question: When you printed on the blue and grey paper did you set your print properties to the best option? What I mean is their is options of best, normal, or draft. The best should produce a darker more defined line. Just an idea.

Yeah I agree, but it's only the lines being printed on dark color card. No color print. I asked about the properties because, ltla said he could not see the lines on the dark card.
Yeah I did both "normal" and "photo" (best). The problem it seemed with the blue was the color didn't want to penetrate into the paper like it did on the white, red and yellow. I smudged the pages on both normal and photo 30 minutes after they were printed. The only other thing I thought of doing is printing the blue and gray on Letter size copy paper, tape it to the blue or gray, and score it like that. The only problem with that option is the line detail won't be on the metallic blue paper. So I'm kinda at a loss there. If anyone has an idea or two I'm open to suggestions.

Any printing reccomendatiuons on the paper package? Would a laser printer make any diffrence? I've never had a laser one so I don't know if they're that much diffrent?

It might Getter, The blue metallic is a very dark blue though. It only looks blue when the light is shining on it just right. The blue I have it printed on now is a primary blue, almost. It's VERY thick. I'm having to reprint a page because using the flaps looks like manure.:curse: So reprint and no flaps. Edge gluing here I come.:cry:

I did find some great colors of construction paper even a good gray but the paper quality isn't that great for building It's very grainy. I can't find squat either on the web for good colored paper either.
If you want to be edge gluing might I reccomend what I was doing on the VF2SS? I cut a bunch of 3/16 inch strips of printer paper. I glued half the strip on one side to be joined and let set but not fulled dried. When it was set enough I then folded the paper down and ran a toothpick along the edge to tighten up the paper tab flush withthe part edge (I actually do that to all parts on all folds tab or not to true up folded edges........*tip*). Then glue the other edge to the paper tab. Makes for tight building Hope that helps.
Don't get frustrated, I made a LOT of bad models before I got the paper techniques down. If you mess anything up that's why you can re-print and try agian Try that with a plastic or resin kit

Hey Townsman, I thought he only offered pre-printed kits or PDF for download. Well I went for the download, $20.00 cheaper than pre-printed and shipped to the US. He's gonna be quite big when done, especially after I find a place to print it on 11 x 17!:twisted:
sign1 How about E draftmans size print like your typical blue print. That would be huge. I'm guessing??????? it could be almost 5 or 6 foot tall. Probably cost alot and don't know if they could print color.
