HO Scale handmade stuff

I am kind of newbie in card modelling (in modelling in general), very low budget, so...
I have to made myself some things that "makes life beautiful" (if not better). Cardboard, white glue,
water colours (cheap ones :killer and other little things that everyone has it home.
So I have started making a Romanian switcher locomotive,
having already plans from a fellow modelist.
This is called LDM 12 Malaxa, a pretty oldie, but there are a few in service.

Next I have tried some German stuff, thinking to make a rail diorama about DRG. A passenger car, "behelfpersonenwagen MCi-43",
this time a work a little bit harder, because of poor documentation (just a few photos and incomplete sketches on internet).
I am pretty pleased, after all, the car seems to be close to the real one (which had many variations,
painting schemes, passenger places etc, "living" in DRG, DR, DB
and also in Czech Railways... maybe other rail companies had it, too).

Then I put in on a famous German locomotive, "Hermine" - E69-003

This beauty came to me out of a printer, so it was a little bit easier to built (yet I have to add a few details...and correct a few things.)

And a Panzer III, which I intended to put on a freight car, but I already have a vignette for it, so...
I'm not decided. Some handmade grass (cigarette filter, untied, painted and "sunbathed"), the "classical" wire+white glue+paint)
for the tree, also some parched tea plants for dead leaves around tree... and a little bit of boiled and parched coffee for the soil
around tank's hole.

A rail-workers car, actually I intended to make an old Bmd class passenger car - but messed up something when drawing/cutting it, so I decided to send it to the trash bin - then I've changed my mind and "refit" it

Yes... there's always room for improvement. I.e., for the Ggs car I replaced the cardboard wheels - I made every wheel by pasting two metal sheaves (with super-glue) then the "classical" axles from toothpicks. Also I think to replace cardboard locomotive/cars couples with some black wire, shaped as couples. I'm glad that you like my stuff - and thanks for kind words, David.

I'm really digging the hand paintedness of your models. Out of curiosity are you using acrylics/latex paints or watercolours?

My old phone is gone [not broken, but give it to my bro], while I have a better one - but cannot get its piccies into pc with this one :mrgreen: wall1

Yes, my models are painted with watercolours.... but I think I will give up, there's better ways to paint. Sometimes the watercolours may be the best, but...not always. And perhaps its a matter of taste, sometimes... regarding the final look of the model/colours.

The texture.... I guess it's about paper - when printing, thinking about glossy paper or ordinary paper... And I started to give up some parts, originally made of paper (like various kind of hooks or bars - i use wire instead, or thin toothpicks.)
Anyway, there's some fellows here that are much better than I am.

Some photos of another locomotive I made some time ago; the first steam tank engine made entirely by Poland (if I'm not wrong, only one machine was used by Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft after invasion of Poland - and I put on my model that DRG numbers, for fitting some other german railcars I have).

Meanwhile, (after taking photos) the locomotive got some real coal out there... the funny part is that I stick the coal with superglue, then there was some ... steam or smoke, not sure - I thought the loco will burn (I never loved chemistry, of course).

Closing up the camera... shows the imperfections of the builder. And some details and the train engineer, too.tooth1
