Hi folks,

during my vacation there was a little time for modeling.
I built the download model HMVS Cerberus from PaperShipwright.
A very accurate design, looks realy good and fits well.
Just have a look:

The railings are lasercut, the rigg made of fishing line or twine.........

Even on vacation, you can squeeze in a little modeling time, eh!?!
I know, when I am modeling, that's time away from the whole world for me.
There is nothing more enjoyable than that!

I am curious, how did you transport the ship during your vacation?
You certainly took good care of it along the way!

thank´s for the kind words......... The transportation of the model is not a problem because my caravan is still on the same place during my vacation......for the back journey I used a metal box from cookies........

Would that it were true - the Cereberus (aka HMAS Platypus) was sunk in about 3 metres of water in the 1920s to form a breakwater in Port Philip Bay. The hull has been deteriorating over the years and there is real concern it may collapse.
There is a partial restoration project underway but the main problem is raising the $6.5M to at least preserve the upper parts of the hull.

Charlie - In the picture it still looked afloat, but I should have read a bit further down on the website...wall1

It looks like about 75% of it is still above water though...:rolleyes:

Mind you, I've seen horribly rusted old classic cars, etc. that have been magically restored to their former glory so who knows? I hope they can pull it off as the ship is entirely unique.

Every year the Half Moon Bay Surf Life Saving Club has an ocean swim around the hulk. Five years ago we could dive off of it. Illegally of course, as it is a health hazard, and it was in very poor condition then.

Now it is far worse, doesn't look much better than a nasty rusted mess. The photo on the website is a few years old now I fear. A truly sad loss.
