Hello! This is my new build relation. This time I started the HMS Alert
from Shipyard. Is is a very special kit. It contains everything you can
need including the tools. All parts are laser cut so anything that is left
is the pleasure of building it.

I made some pictures of the kit so you can see what is inside.

I seen this kit elseware and it looks very good. Good luck with the build.
 
It fits very well because all parts are cut out by laser.
The hull is made of 3 layers. This what you see now
is first layer.
 
Where to buy?

Where do you buy this kit in the US? The website has no information about price or purchase.

I don't know where to buy it in US. There is an email on the website
so you can contact them and ask. The kit has build description in English,
German, French and Polish so I'm almost sure that it should be available
internationally. It's very new. It was published in January.

Here are some new pictures. If you have some questions please ask.

 
In Alert model you have to paint yourself (paints and brushes included).
The funny thing is with "wood" parts. First you have to paint them
with the yellow background and you paint with dark brown the "wood".

Here you see the deck parts painted with yellow background.

This looks very good but I have a small problem with this "wood".
At the picture below you see how the finished ship should looks like.
There is a lot of "wood" parts (I marked all with stars) and the build
description tells that they all should be painted the same way.
On the picture below you see that the deck itself is very light
(almost yellow) and all other "wood" parts are very dark.
What is wrong with it. Maybe it was different type
of wood and every interested in 18th century ships knows it
except me.

The picture... well is a bit too red on the cover but that could be the problem of the picture itself, they never give you readl colours.

Real decks were between yellowish towards grey even - but light - because of sanding, water and the sun and of course the wood used.
Bulwards and ports are painted. Gratings either same colour as deck or darker brown.

On the second glance of your, deck... it is also ok :) but do not make make it more brown. Brown does not mean wood you know.

As a young sailor, I spent many days on my hands and knees holey stoning (rubbing with a block of volcanic pumice) the teak deck on HMCS CAPE BRETON. The deck never appeared brown. Before holey stoning it was a medium grey with a very light greenish hue. Afterwards it was a light grey.

Yes I'm tempted to make it grey but it means experimenting with paints.
I have a testing deck so maybe I will make few experiments.
