Hms Ajax

Hello David,
Am I right in thinking that you want to model in card all the ships that fought in The Battle of The River Plate?
GPM did have a 1/200 scale model of HMS AJAX, but I think that it is not available any more. If you do find this kit, you could build two as AJAX and ACHILLES were nearly identical! With a GPM model of HMS EXETER, which is also 1/200 scale and the GPM Graf Spee to the same scale, you have them.
I would love to see photos of these ships built!

At the rate I build it might take a year or two! If I finished.

Then I could go on to North Cape, or back to the 18th century...

HMS AJAX, Overall length = 522 feet. This would give a scale length of 2.62 feet (if my maths is correct!)
HMS ACHILLES, Overall length = 554.5 feet
HMS EXETER , Overall length = 575 feet
GRAF SPEE, Overall length = 610 feet 3 inches

HMS JERVIS BAY I know, the same heroic story as HMS RAWALPINDI, but the skipper of one got a V.C., the other one didn't (why?)

Achilies and Ajax were sister ships of the first group of the Leander class.
For both of them their LBP (length between perpendiculars) was 522' and their LOA (length overall) was 554.5'.
I would hate our David to be shortchanged by a whole 1.95" at 1:200. :-)
