This photo taken on the 11th hour of Relay for Life, you can't really tell but it was pouring rain and I felt like death. The bicep piece was slipping down but I just didn't care.

The pics in the rain are the best so far, man! They give your fabulous work such a real look, because of the situation in which they were shot. That dark night, with rain... ominous signs of a battle to come.

Thanks! The decals really helped. I didn't want to add color, so this was the next best way to get it to pop.

Ammo counter WIP. I downsized the rifle a bunch.

It's slowly improving! Gun is now mostly plastic. Light up ammo counter, gas block, working charging handle, real 7.62 muzzle brake, and a real Magpul rubber buttplate have been added.

Now it's heavy, and that adds a conundrum- how the hell to 'magnetically' attach it to my back? Some point I'll rig up my spare AR15 dust cover to the right side of the stock and make a fake bolt face or something.

On that note, the design of the gun makes no sense- there's nowhere for the bolt to go, as the ejection port is at the very rear of the stock and it doesn't look like it goes downwards. Get your shit together, Bungee
 
Your rifle is starting to look really good.
I fully understand your frustration with the design of it. That is a common problem with most SCI-FI weapons. Who ever in designing them, does not take into account what all really goes into such a weapon. So most SCI-FI weapons are (in fact) missing quite a few components and the over-all design (even though it make look "REALLY COOL"), on close inspection, does not make any kind of sense at all and could never work (even if we had the technology).

Other then that, You are doing a GREAT JOB on this project as a whole.

HUM.....earth magnets?
a friend of mine has a magnet size 5x10cm and a few cm thick...
and when you place that on a large metal plate..you will never gett it off..
maybe an idea for you..(in smaller sizes)..
a metal plate on the back and some small cubes attached to the gun..

I know there are strong, light-weighted magnets out there. I don't think they're exactly cheap, but you can find them in the internet (just type "magnet" in wiki).
Anyway, your work is great (as usual), and I'm following this with great interest.
 
I wouldn't worry about magnets like that doing any real damage to a phone. Solid-state devices like that are almost immune to magnetic fields because they work using floating gate transistors, not magnetic charges. It's only when the fields are in flux at a sufficiently high rate of change that any real damage is likely: http://superuser.com/questions/338641/is-it-possible-to-wipe-ssd-with-strong-magnetic-force And believe me, you would have to work really, really hard to actually do that. ;)

If I were you, I'd use a steel plate in the backpack and a few neodymium magnets in the gun(s). That way, you don't have to worry about polarity when you slap the gun on the pack. :thumb:
 
Thanks! Crap, I didn't know that- I was really worried about bricking someone's phone by complete accident.
Any ideas on how to build it into my armor now? The back plate is finished, so I can't and probably shouldn't drill it out and put it into one of the rear panels..
 
No reason you can't simply go in from the inside, rout out a hole for the plate, then epoxy it in place. Nobody will see it and rare-earth magnets will be strong enough to be attracted to it even if they are separated by a good centimeter.
