Big guns, artillery. I was actually in the Army Artillery, so… gotta have big guns. (Even though I was in a missile outfit)
I bought a set of ‘army men’ to play with the grandkids (and my grown sons…) so we must have artillery to wipe out the enemy. The guns will shoot… something. The first one will fire 1/2 Q-tips. Gotta shoot soft you know, little kids and little army men.
This is the set I ordered. I see I will be painting lots of little people.
And thanks to a couple of youtubers (Model Lover and crazyPT), I have model guns and ideas for how to make them shoot. Both guys have LOTS of good ideas.
This will be the first gun.
And this is the barrel and the first part of the frame.
The barrel is lined with a soda straw and is made of rolled paper. It will get a muzzle brake, something like this:
The whole frame will be reinforced with wood (popsicle sticks) on the inside and the wheels will be real wheels made from pill bottle tops. The power for launching projectiles will come from a rubber band. More later…
The gun plans are from Paper Army’s collection. The plans are 1:72 or something, so I enlarged it about 2X. Gotta have BIG guns.
