So, as a quick change of pace, I decided to build (well finally build) an M722 LEV (Light Expeditionary Vehicle) by Genet Models designed by Christopher Roe. This is clearly inspired by the 1987 movie "Aliens" but is certainly different enough to enjoy in its own right. It is about 28mm figure scale, so it should fit most of our collections of readily available miniatures that size (historical and SF). One can find their own copy here: http://www.genetmodels.com/genet-models-2012-2013/

I've always been impressed by Genet Models. These are quite fun builds, and very easy given the instructions. Being and english language speaker/reader, I enjoy being able to read the notes on the step by step instructions as well. I still enjoy other models, but with Genet models, I can spend more time cutting and building without going into analysis mode of an assembly drawing and wondering how the parts fit together.

Now, I did make a mistake. I ended up using "Extra thick" 100# cover stock. My fitment required some modifications (cutting off entire flaps in some cases)... So, therefore I printed another set of sheets on 110# index stock that is thinner... I'm shooting for two of these by the end. First one is going to be just tan, and all of Mr. Roe's details as the model was painted digitally. Second will be my usual number here I prime and paint myself to cover up my poor glue and marker handling!

I have been wanting to see someone build one of his models. You are off to a great start. I am looking forward to seeing how this turns out!!!

Yes, he does some liberal interpretations. They look like nice models. Maybe he is nervous aout calling them out for what they are. I am happy to see his stuff is free , can't go wrong with that. Some of his modifications makes me think he is capable of creating some pretty neat stuff right out of his head, original creations, looking for a story. :)

Greeble potential alert!! Endless possibilities!

Don't I know it! That is why I printed off a couple more copies... TO slice, dice, and greeble away to my hearts content once I get done with the first build!

I've not finished the basic kt. Well, the out of the box (as in made out of a box...) kit! I'm going to hold off on a super detailed Sudsy style build and paint until after I finish some other projects... But this was a loads of fun, and very strait forward.

Pictures of the finished M722 and some of its contemporaries (which many were recorded here). The M722 is a sigificant vehicle scale wise compared to other similar table top miniature vehicles of the same scale (though, the BMP is 96% the intended dimensions given that I printed it on US Letter size to fit the parts...).

With the exceptions of my marker mishaps and glue mis-handling in spots, I'm pleased with the results! It looks sharp, and is a great addition to my collection.

That's a great-looking collection! The removable top adds a lot to the charm and makes it very versatile. Awesome job! :)
