Genet Models 4x4 Transport

Genet (or Ebbles) Models makes a great basic 4x4 transport inspired by, but not a HUMVEE (unless someone knows what it actually is, in which case, please let me know).

I started one today as a 'one day build' attempt. I ended up printing another one on card stock, not to build, but to use to laminate the model and add those beloved grebles we all love around here! This is my first vehicle without paint. You'll swiftly see why I cover mine in a layer of primer and paint the up!

Some of the laminiation would be much better if I went with two to three layers (the doors on the sides for example, which I have not gotten to just yet...). I might just have to build another one just to see what it looks like with more lamination, and paint! In the meantime though...

A little lamination goes a long way!

Just for fun, I took a picture of the 4x4 with a Guardsman and a motorcycle in the same scale that I'm working on (posted in other sections of Zealot, DakkaDakka, and Yaktribe forums for those truly interested PM me for links).

Three layers was thick as I got, and I am very pleased with the results! Sure, I had to print out a few more sheets of the model, but that is paper crafting for you! Might as well print more spare parts to greble away!

Next time I make one of these, I definately painting it. My unsteady hand with the marker is obvious, along with some of the bleeding along the cut paths!

I like the result!

For quick reinforcements I use the cardboard from packaging material. Just cut it to shape and glue it to the back side of the face. Since you won't see it any longer when the model is closed it doesn't matter how you attach it. In addition, the pieces don't need to be exact.

or any of the multitudes of 4x4's across the globe, from any country out there!! The all LOOK ALIKE!!

Great job, it looks very good. As reinforcements, any cardboard that is hanging around. As said Revell-Fan do not have to be exact, I even cut them avoiding that they overlap the union tabs, because it tends to be a deformity to the overlay on the eyelash.For the edges my system is very simple and economical, pencils of common colors, those used by children at school, wet the tip lightly in water and I paint, you can achieve a wide range of colors Mixing on the edge. Being harder does not occur the bleed as happens with markers or pencils of watercolor. It also helps to spray the leaves with sealer or hairspray, before an error we can quickly with the finger remove the excess and there is no some stain. Greetings.

So, I got the turret mounted with a the machine gun, definately a Browing M2 style! This is the older style turrets, prior to the up-armor variants seen more since the mid 2000's (due to lessons learned in Iraq). Newer style turret cupola might be a kitbash project in the future...

@Dagger & Revell-Fan - I normally use cereal box style cardboard for reinforcements on the interior of the vehicles. In this case, Christopher Roe (the designer) had a nice sheet of reinforcements for the model already made. So I printed them out and built them. Next time, I'm cutting the tabs off though (along with other methods of alternate construction).

Final part of my weekend build (about 18 hours past 'one day' but if it might be about one day given actual build time minus interruptions of real life...). Wheels and tires.

Here is where I kitbashed the most using all the awesome stuff I've learned here on Zealot from everybody here. Thanks a million for helping me become rather prolific with my building and documentation of building!

Looks good! On another note, on a greebled up re-build, I would absolutely do something about those wheels, a spiral to start off is just asking for trouble! I have several designs ( I will have to re-draw them since the HD crash ) that are a little bit more complicated but far better results, and you can use them to replace just about any wheels out there!

I agree. Liquid Electric Tape will do wonders, as will any Liquid Rubber fluid. You can make treads with thin strips and pain the Electric Tape over it to give a great result. I have used this brand, thee are other. It adds a nice touch to rubber engine components, and the steering wheel, anything that could use a vinyl or rubber look. For interiors door panels, you brush it on real thin.

This looks really good! You are doing a great job on this project!
As for laminating to raise or recess printed texture to create and add "detail", is the easiest way to do such. This is a technique that I use on a regular basis.
I have the entire collection. I am wanting to try my hand at them. I will be watching this thread closely.
