Some random answers to the "What A Mess" post

~~ The "old" Gauge was like a ruddy Steam Engine.. It needed some -- ok lots -- Of TLC ... We were susceptible to hacking, spamming, and other fun things

~~ The New (Upgraded) board should have less "bad" things, allowing all of us --- you members that stop by a half hour a day - and Us Mods that are here 5 - 6 hours a day to enjoy it a LOT more...

~~ Why??? Because it HAD to be done and a benefit of it, is it will run smoother and faster!!!!

~~ Colors???? No - Only Peter knows what color we'll end up being --- But Yes I Hope it's Gauge Blue -- A side note to this..... In order to make "blue" last time - Peter had to Dual code a LOT of things.... You may remember coming across text that was the "wrong color" -- thus proving Peter is "only Human" :D

~~ When will he be done???? Last time it took a few days -- this time?? Dunno :rolleyes:

~~ Dorifto Master?? One step below Jedi master!!!! :) Again.. I dunno

~~ Why do we have all these forums together??? Why are refrigerators small??? to KEEP EVERYTHING TOGETHER!! LOL Efficiency!!!!

~~ Imagine signing in at any time of day (or night) and have the Pages INSTANTLY load!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!! It's actually running faster for me tonight Too Cool!!!!!!

~~ Yes - The gallery is Temporarily AWOL.. It's gone as we know it ...... But we can rebuild him,.... we have the technology..... And we have time LOL ---- We might have to re enter all the links to the pictures On the Gauge from the gallery :( We'll See............

~~ The e-bay ads??? again, That's Peter's dealings.... This Server costs money... And while a few of you seem willing to contribute in the way of Dues - or contributions, Us married, old, men with families barely have enough money for trains, let alone dues.... If anyone is willing to help Peter fund The Gauge, by all means, please contact him directly....

~~ - This is the 3rd time The Gauge has experienced Growing pains... We are experiencing Catch 22... If Peter had did all the coding and then put it all online, The Gauge would have been down for days.. Not a good thought - those of us writhing around of the floor in withdrawel hehehehehehe

He elected to put it on - let all of us Beta-Test it for and with him.... Please be patient, These things take time, and he has to take breaks and sleep too....

So he's damned either way -At least this way we can all see what's happening

~~ one thing for sure, as soon as I have access to the CP - I'm turning up the Smiley counts!!! ROFL I miss all those guys!! LOL I can't be limited to "4" smileys!!!! ROFL

~~ as soon as we get news, w'll pass it along to you all ASAP!!! But for now - we really don't know what's going to happen.....

How do I get my Avatar back?
I notice all the mods and admin have theirs.

When I go to the User CP, it shows up there but it doesn't give me any options to change it and it doesn't show up in any of my posts.

Is your avatar uploaded or linked? Mine was uploaded and it seems like I never lost it. Why not try to delete it (you should be able to since you "see" it in your CP) and upload it again.

they loaded instantly before ( for me) when i changed over to firefox all pages from any site change fast. and my computer stopped locking up. i also have 756k dsl to. not sure what it was like for the dial up guys tho.

The avatars are still there, but unfortunately there's some glitch that's preventing them from showing. You can either re-upload them in the User CP or ask me to do it for you. Which way is quicker..... dunno! I've done yours already though.

My avatar was uploaded as well. It shows up in my User CP but nowhere else. The option to select no avatar is there but the box to upload or link to a new one is gone.

Now we're typing at the same time. LOL..... Now I have the good ol' red X for an avatar. hhhhmmmm......

edit- now it's back! :)
 
I can't upload an avatar,there's only the option to delete it and not upload one.Also,the quick reply option isn't working for me.Out of curiosity,are the new forums completely Firefox compatable?

Now I have it also,I didn't before though.And I figured out the quick reply deal also.

I have to be honest,I miss the name and the way the old forum looked.I'll get used to it like everybody else sooner or later.

I'm on Firefox as well and having the same problem. My avatar is showing up now but the options to edit avatars is not in my User CP. I only have the choice of my current avatar or to select no avatar.

Get some rest Peter.
We'll survive until morning now.
