Hello, fans!
Main modeling is complete and I am about to unfold everything. Here are some pics of the current look of the CG model. I have tweaked the width of the case(s) and added the two plugs. I needed a rivet texture for them and you'll never guess where I got it from - my shoes! :mrgreen:
Feel free to use the rivet for texturing your own models.
In addition, the Farnsworth team has become bigger: b0bman is on board now and will be test-building the first prototype. Thank you for this and happy building! :thumb:

The texture will be replaced in certain areas in order to get rid of unwanted shadows and to increase the sharpness of the images.

I had an inspiration last night and revised the model. As I told you before I'd like to release this simple version asap so that all of you may have a chance to present it at your Halloween party. However, this model features such a high potential for it can be displayed with a full interior. Due to the fact that I am not sure if I can get the innards ready in time I will concentrate on the outer shell but make sure that this shell can be enhanced later. So be prepared for an add-on pack which will feature a full interior and the small antenna with that cute radar dish. :thumb:

So, and now the fun begins: I have printed the parts and started a quick and dirty test of the casing. This was necessary because of the laminations which are required to make the "walls" of the FW. This test should show me if the length of the wall paper strips was correct.
The pictures show how it is done: The first strip is cut out which forms the inner wall. It has some flaps on it which are supposed to be valley-folded. To make this step easier I make two little cuts into the strip marking the position of the flaps. The part is turned around and the part is creased on its back side along the cuts. Then the flaps are folded up.
The bottom piece is laminated to 0.85 mm cardboard and the inner wall strip is glued around its edge. The outer wall strip is used for cutting out a matching strip of 0.85 mm card which is glued around the inner wall strip to make the wall thicker. Then the outer wall strip is glued around it.
I found out that the inner wall strip was too short and has to lengthened by 2 mm.

And now comes the most exciting part: The hinge mechanism.
You need a wooden or a brass rod for it. Cut out the brass-textured rectangles and fold them as shown. I made the little elements double-sided to make them more stable and durable.
