I just thought i'd post on here that the oldest engine in Durango...D&RGW #315...made her debut as the latest engine to be restored.

Just search for Denver Rio Grand 315 on youtube.com

There are some nice videos!
 
I don't remember when the started...but I think it was a long time ago...just that they did most of the work in the park where she was.

Maybe we'll see #42 at some point? I personally would prefer a T-12.
 
the durango railroad historical society website has good documentation of this restoration.

Restoring an engine is a ton of work. There are many engines across the country in pieces from failed attempts. Restoring something which has sat outside for 60+ years is an accomplishment. I remember in the mid '90s how that engine had a much narrow tender than the cab...like it had been swapped with a T-12 or something.
