Greetings. One person I appreciate is Gerard Methorst, Dutch designer, very cordial with me. He built several of his designs, Me-262, T-33, J29 Tunnan, the Fokker G-1, F-25, F-27, Republic SeaBee, and Now the Do-24k. Gerard's designs are interesting, some unusual, they are not simple, the instructions are summarized in a couple of drawings and some dimensions, sometimes adjustments are required. That attracts me, they are challenging. The main thing before begin is to do a good job of previous interpretation. The Do-24k does not seem easy. For here we go.The design, many formers, tabs binding only to close rings and wings. The system of double former by section of the fuselage to go arming individual blocks, Gerard also provides the templates to use a single thicker former to join two sections. In this model the front from the nose to the former 4 built as usual in me, making tabs, joining and then entering the former

That is a beautiful model. Glad to see you building it, it is on my "to do" list". He also has a Gypsy Moth that is stunning. ;)

Thanks to all! I will continue with the engines, although I'm slow, there are just a few minutes a day to dedicate. This is a nice plane and is not seen regularly, Gerard has several models that are not often seen, that's why I'm attracted to his designs. They are not simple, not perfect, sometimes you have to make several adjustments. They are challenging, very interesting and the end result is very good. Zathros, my list of pending things is huge and never decreases, on the contrary, it increases day by day, and I know that in this life that list will only increase. I think we are all in the same arena.

We share the same experience, my list gets bigger, my time grows shorter. Gerard had pulled all his models for a while. I managed to get most, if not all, before he did. You are building the "Apple of my eye". This thread, and your experience will really be a great help. I think that it is not uncommon to have to adjust parameters when making a paper model due to different thickness, and other variations. The effort into doing this is what can yield a great model. Yours really looks great so far. :)

p.s. Making this thread a "STICKY" because of it's uniqueness. ;)

I have fluid contact with Gerard, lately he told me that he was thinking about releasing his designs again, although he has not decided yet. It would be very good if he does it. I agree with this about the adjustments, there are several factors that influence apart from the design. Paper, grammage of the same, printers, if we cut inside or outside the lines, etc.I suppose that everything influences, and if even the printed models of the big firms have their problems with more reason electronic downloads. I never built one of these kit, but I saw that some adjustment is required.
Despite the limited time available reach to finish one of the three engines. Several parts and formers, everything fits very well, without adjustments, you just have to have patience and not rush anything. Gerard made a great design on these engines. Restrain exhaust pipes , air intake, antenna, later we will add this. More skillful hands would achieve a better result, I am also more than satisfied and I had a lot of fun. Thank you.20190402_223719.jpg 20190404_203612.jpg 20190405_055021.jpg 20190405_180046.jpg 20190405_182659.jpg 20190405_183748.jpg 20190405_183758.jpg 20190405_204135.jpg 20190405_204308.jpg 20190405_210351.jpg

When you look at the parts layout of this model, it looks intimidating. Not for the first time builder, but what a great model, and excellent subject matter.

Maybe you can ask Gerard to stop by Zealot, we'd all love to thank him for his contributions to the hobby. ;)

Thank you very much everyone! Zathros, when you see the pieces, many formers and only some guide drawings seems to intimidate but in reality up to here it is not very complicated. Please note that Gerard's designs have to be studied well before beginning, otherwise there if it gets complicated. I have an advantage, I already know the system well, although in each model there is always something that complicates me.
One of the things that these designs taught me and that I did not worry about before is looking for all possible information about the model build, either to detail, or know something of the real machine, or especially when I get stuck somewhere some good pictures or diagrams solve part of the problem.
Finished engines, still without the details. In the last two I made some small modifications and achieve better result.

Continue to place some pieces before positioning the wing, (which does not seem easy), because if not it Aug before then it would be complicated. Greetings and thanks.

Thank you! The best talent I'm learning is to hide the errors in the photos! Our Do-24 can almost fly, it already has its wings. Think it would be complicated, and actually quite easy. They hold with nine struts, two on each float and five in the fuselage. After closing the cylinders and flatten them I introduced 2mm wire as Gerard advised, except that instead of chopsticks I used construction wire. Then it was only to drill and insert the struts from the center outwards. I think that I achieved very good alignment and a couple of pieces is what remains, then come some extra details that I will have to do with other materials and correct some things that the camera shows but the eye does not see. This Gerard design is very good, I really enjoy every stage, except for a few small details everything comes together very well. Many thanks to all.20190413_214015.jpg 20190414_164056.jpg 20190414_164109.jpg 20190414_164155.jpg 20190414_164207.jpg 20190414_164234.jpg 20190414_164320.jpg 20190414_164332.jpg 20190414_164341.jpg
