I wish! I have a condition called 'Charcot foot'. Do a search on it and you'll see why you don't want it. Be warned, photos turned up by the search are not for those with weak stomachs.

It's 45 and cloudy. The high will be around 70 and it will be partly cloudy.

The hedges are up around the park and plans are in place for erecting a fence around the property occupied by the Shell station. Spent part of yesterday dusting off some of the things on the layout. Some haven't been dusted in years. Today I'll be going to see the foot doc. As always I hope he has good things to say.

announce1Well, as suspected, it started raining yesterday afternoon. A rain for the most part here is nothing like a rain in the south. It's more of a light shower, but it can last all day. That is the case now. It started yesterday afternoon and except for brief periods has lasted ever since. Coming down pretty good at this time 9 am.
Time to play with the toys, maybe work on restoring a couple projects that have been on the workbench for a month.:mrgreen:

California can always use any water it can get. When I see all the midwest flooding and the hurricane's down there, I always think -"why can't they ship some of that water out here". That's what they should do to stimulate the economy - build a huge aqueduct from the Mississippi and pumping stations to green-up the Southwest.:thumb:

Planned project for today will be to get a fence up on the Shell station property/ Funny thing about plans is that they don't always go as planned. We also have fire dept hose testing today. Wonder how many we'll bust this year. We lost two last year.

Lots of rain for southern California in the last 24 hrs. My back yard looks like the old swimming hole. It's a pain having to wipe off eight little paws everytime the dogs want to go outside. They insist on wading thru every puddle they come accross. Wish that I had been able to complete the flower bed that I was working on before it decided to rain. Now I have a real mess to finish when it drys. Dug out the sandblaster yesterday and worked on a Lionel 2034 loco that I started to restore. Now if I can just p[ost a photo.

Hi folks, a quicky. Lots of sun and 45 degrees today melting lots of snow but its still covering the ground.we had a lot just snowed on top of snow. no trains today but did chat with some train buddies. goodnite...S.J.
 
Good morning.

It's currently 54 and mostly cloudy. The high should be in the mid 70's and it will be partly cloudy with a small chance of rain.

I started work yesterday on the fence around the Shell station property as well as performing some general maintenance on the layout. On the fire dept hose tests yesterday we did pretty good. We lost only 4 hoses, 2 from Sundown Fire Dept and 2 from Empire Point Fire Dept. I'm rather proud of that. It shows that we are taking care of our equipment and taking seriously the commitment to keep the home insurance rates in our area as low as we can. On the issue of SM camera cards for my old Olympus camera (the one used to take many of the photos you've seen from me). I now have four cards for it. One 128 MB card (new - $50), one 64 MB card (contributed by forum member) and two 8 MB cards (contributed by forum members). Thank you to all who contributed, you know who you are. These old cards can be bad about cracking and have a habit of shorting out due to a phenomenon known as 'tin whiskers'. I can now take up to 260 photos on a single trip before having to upload the contents of the cards to my computer. The best I could do previously was 40-50 photos on a somewhat flaky card that had a bad habit of losing photos. Again, thank you to those who sent cards.

Still mostly cloudy and occasional rain(mist) shower. Just enough to make me have to clean/dry off eight paws about 10 times a day. Funny, when I take them to the river, they race each other to see who can get into the water first and who can make the biggest splash .... but they stand at the door here when it comes a little shower cowarding to go outside until I say, "GO - What do you think I am - A doorman?" Ever noticed how they get mad at you when you blow in their face, but stick their heads out the window when you are going down the road at 60?
No projects that I really want to tackle at the moment, so I will just kick back - maybe go to the casino and play some poker later on.

It's 56 and cloudy (and slightly wet) heading for a high around 70 with a chance of thunderstorms.

Planned out some more of the fence around the Shell station property. I don't have enough fence to go all the way around so I'll put it around the more visible area (front) and scratch build a chain link fence for the back area. Yesterday I trotted out a high mileage Proto 2000 GP38-2 that I got from a friend a couple of years ago. It needed a run after sitting in the engine house for over a year. Watched an old movie last night, 'On the waterfront' with Marlon Brando.
