too wet to continue working on bench work todaywall1 maybe I will start to write out my business plan today just incase I actualy get the resources and nerve to start a business:confused:

No new trains as of the moment, ran the Marx 999 loco the other day and it runs great:thumb:
 
Boy I was sweating today. We've been hunting for a water leak for several months now. Found it this morning. Right under the edge of my neighbors porch! It's been leaking to the tune of 4,000 to 6,000 gallons of water a month and NEVER showed on the ground. I started digging in suspect areas in his yard this morning and struck pay-dirt on the second hole, or is that pay-mud? Anyway, got it dug out and removed the bad pipe and put in a new one. Turned on the water and watched the meter for several minutes, daring it to move. It didn't move. I filled in the holes, put away the tools and put paid to the job. Man, I'm fried!
 
Wow, for got to post this morning. Busy shooting squirrels and fixing breakfast. Then hit the road running errands. Gas went from 3.59 to 3.66 in one hour. Been at Town Hall for photo for paper. Then had to listen to Parks and Rec Advisory Board Chair [she does not realize they are ADVISORY only] bitch about us chewing the Parks and Rec Director for not doing his job and the newpaper printed it. Now I am calling her when things get behind and he is not performing. YOU handle the problem. Good politician delegates to person who wants to gripe. Rained a nice slow soaking rain. Now sun is out and they are calling for big stuff this PM. Maybe trains in a few minutes. Later

Sir James, your garden sounds like a good project. I was double digging a garden at a rental house years ago and a neighbor came over to bug me. Remember that show, Square Foot Gardener? Anyway, I told the neighbor it was going to be a mud wallow for some pigs, LOL. Man, I had him going - he was really worried when he left?! Later, I got a call from the owner upset that I made the neighbor so mad - bwahahaha! I still get a little evil happiness out of that one 20 years later!

Red Wings just won 4 to 1.
I just plant a few things for us to eat fresh veggies. And like most gardeners, my neighbors get some as even a little becomes too much. My wife cans tomatoes and a few other things but we buy them so the canning can be done in a day or so instead of spread out to a few jars at a time.

:thumb: yes everyone should have at least two variaties of ta-maters even if it is only 2 plants. I like beefstake,roma,grape and yellow pear tomatoes. Had some potato leaf tomatoes just an interesting name for a run of the mill red tomatoesign1 tips plant a tomatoe plant in the center of a potato hill double the yeild from half the space:twisted:also plant beans so they will grow up a stalk of corn(half runners of course) As far as okra in the north it is always a crap-shoot as to if they will come up found best results with the baby bubba variaty, people next door to parents are from mississippi(sp?) and got me started on okra very good stir fry veggie:mrgreen: But ccan not stand greens of any type....yuck and phew:shock: raw spinach on a burger or in a salad is ok:wave:

Brutus: LOL! They deserved it! Sounds like the neighbor needs a hobby.

We do tomatos in pots. With all the oak and hickory trees around, we can't really grow anything in the ground...we tried, brought in $100 worth of topsoil, built raised beds, and got really poor results. Someone said is something about the the oaks. I grew up with a garden every year, 20' x 40'. We had raspberrys in one corner to eat as a bonus for weeding.

Dentist today...Filling in the side of my tooth, between the molars. Not looking forward to this.

Good morning folks

It was 53 F and raining hard on the way to work. High today will be 63 F with more heavy rain. We are currently under a Flood Watch. This morning’s trip to work was eventful as I had to bushwhack my way. Accidents prevented me from taking my usual route and the fact that students at a local high school have to be driven to school when it rains cause grid lock around that school.

No modeling last night. We had a Cub Scout Leaders Meeting to discuss our upcoming camping trip. It was an extremely productive meeting.

Another busy weekend on tap. Tonight is my daughter’s flute recital. On Saturday we will be attending the Cub Scout Tiger Cub Graduation at the Philadelphia Zoo along with our pack’s Tiger Cubs. Sunday is Mothers Day and we are still not sure of our plans. I have to take the kids out to get their mother’s present.

Modelingwise I would like to start weathering the gondolas I have on the workbench. I still have computer inventory to finish.

Morning. Storms came through around 5 AM. Nothing bad like some got last night. Good rain. Makes garden grow. BTW: I plant cabbage, onions and corn in rows. Everthing else is planted in beds. Beds are about 3 to 4 feet wide. About 30 feet long. "Miss match" plants so I get more in a bed that way and not a lot of garden wasted in middles. Use to do all rows and plow with big tractor. Too much trouble. Also run soaker hoses by each plant. With them that close together, get good soaking without waste of water.

Ran trains late last night. Had fun. Was up to 1 AM. Now off to County Meeting [free meal :thumb:]. Later
 
I've been working on my parents pool pump all day today. It had a crack in one pipe. I replaced that and dang if another didn't crack, then another. I ended up replacing almost half the pipes before I was finished. The pump now runs like a champ! It's pushing the water through the filter at 480 feet per minute. That's better than the old one ever did.
 
We just had the pool pump running a little while ago and dang it! The new pipe in the pressure line started leaking! AARRGG! I'm so mad I could spit! Now that line has to be taken apart and redone. The pipe joint goo that was gauranteed not to leak is not goiung to be used again! This time it'll be teflon tape.

Jeffrey, every time I do some plumbing, I am glad I didn't do it as a profession.

Picked up an MTH PRR N6b caboose on Thursday. Really nice, detailed interior, lighting and lighted marker lights on the rear. The picture makes it look glossy but it really isn't. I used a flash, to lazy to rig up the lights for one shot.

Taking a little tour of the restored Harris Tower (Harrisburg, PA) tomorrow with my uncle who used to work there. This is a former PRR / Amtrak tower that is no longer in use and was restored by the Harrisburg chapter of the NRHS.

I went to my fav. train store today and a hobby shop that carries Weaver, they had a real nice looking D T & I caboose, but retail was $51.95 and I just can't get myself to that price range yet. Especially when I don't really have to have it. But of course that is the way all the nice items are leaning,sadly. Enjoy your weekend and I will look in now and then....S.J.

Well, I'm full of stromboli sandwich, watching the news about the flooded soccer fields around us, and thinking I need to get to Walmart tomorrow and pick up a couple Zebco 33's for me and the boy and get a license - going on a campout next week with fishing at a lake near the Lake of the Ozarks. I need to find out what kind of fishing they have so I can figure out what tackle to pick up though.

I think I might pick up a couple plant pots and plant some 'maters after all this talk - I'll bet the kids would like it. On my hill, I don't really have a good spot for a garden. I could put a few pots on the deck out back, though I guess!

Oh - TCA renewal stuff showed up, so I guess May was it! I think I got the paperwork in April but didn't mail in right away I guess - memory is failing me lately.

Morning!

Cleaned, and re-attached/wired the 2033 powered engine...still getting sparks from the pick-up roller. I think think the roller pins are a bit dirty. I did clean with CRC, and a brass wheel, but I didn't get the pins and connections. I did find quite a bit of metal shavings around the gears, but the gears look fine. Those shavings were a bugger to get off that magnatraction. For some reason the previous owner removed the hot shoes from both engines. I was able to replace the hot shoe with the drill press, and a rivet rollover tool.

Today we have tickets for Go Diego Go at the Fox theatre downtown Detroit! 3-yo is very excited! Should be a great day!
