Chief, I'll send you info on a good Atlas dealer. What you really need for that parade is a rubber tired Thomas the Tank Engine.

Doug, Enjoy your trip to Phoenix. The last time I was in that area was when my oldest daughter received her MBA from Thunderbird in Glendale. Were it not for my wife I think I would be living there now. :mrgreen: :thumb: wall1

Brutus, Don't be in a rush to buy that TMCC engine, I suspect the prices to drop now that Legacy is out.

Jeffrey, Nice neat looking installation. announce1 For the life of me I can not understand why TMCC electronics are so large. No reason they could not be significantly reduced in size. There is nothing to keep them as large as they are now except that Lionel requires all the licensees to use their antiquated receiver as part of the deal. Maybe since Jon is now working for Lionel we will see some improvement. They could reduce the size and put it in all of their started set for a small increase in price as all of the development costs have long since been recouped. End of soapbox speech. :wave:

This is made by ETS (over the pond). It is 3 rail DC. Now I have to set up DC on one of the loops!.wall1 They call it a 2-6-0-0-6-2.

AS far as I can tell, it has only been test run.

Tom, Thanks for the info. If you are just going to run it in forward on a display loop, it might be easier to install a bridge rectifier in the engine and let the AC supply as is. That would also prevent the possibility that someone would try to run it on the wrong loop and smoking the DC motors on AC.
 
I got a start on my bench work today and no missing fingers:shock::wave: will post some pics tomarrow:cool:

Chief I tried to post yesterday, but the computer just wouldn't get it through, finally gave up.
Tom That is quite a nice locomotive. I have a friend from South Africa and he has some video that he took at the engine facilities of the Garretts getting ready for the day's run. Really neat as they had about 10 of them heading out. Lots of steam and smoke. I am trying to get a brass builder's plate off of one.
Brutus Just verify the information on that eBay item. Make sure the notice saying you won and information on payment was sent through eBay. They got me once, but I was suspicious and since it was not for much money, I followed through with it. I got burned, but I also learned a lot about how they operate.

Well, it has been quite a weekend. Had all that company Friday night, had to make dinner/desert for everyone and then, breakfast the following morning. Then, head to Chuck E Cheese for a party for a friend of my son's. Two hours later, we went to a party for a 1 year old daughter of some friends of ours. Then, this morning, we had to rally the troups and head to FIL's for his birthday party. I hated to miss church, somehow I feel like I am starting the week unprepared for what is in store for me this week. ON our way back from FIL's, we stopped and had dinner at "Smoky Bones" and ate some St. Louis Ribs.

I start call this week, so I hope to get some train time in. It should be OK, but it being the first week back from Spring Break for a number of families, it may be a rough one. I hope everyone has a safe, blessed week ahead.

Thanks for info! Hey Dennis, St. Louis Ribs are pretty good, but best are from KC. We have Smokey Bones here - I wonder if they are a national chain? Ditto on that email. My wife got a bogus email once, but I had been warned and told her to ignore it an only read the emails that are in the ebay account page - wasn't there! We contacted ebay and they verified it was bogus. Now, I only go on ebay and do everything actually on their site.

John and Tom, that sure is a neat locomotive.

Jeffrey - for lunch I had a cup of soup. But, for dinner I had a double cheeseburger! LOL

CSX - measure fingers twice and cut once, that's my motto! :P

Sir James, Kurt, Doug and all are invited over for some chocolate cake!

Dennis,,, american flyer guys use cars with one of each coupler on them as transition cars.
We had a very nice spring day today, plus my wifes beloved Red Wings won. but no trains today, watched LPGA and the race by switching back and forth. Of coure I know you guys don't do that. TTFN,,,S.J.

That's a cute little Garratt, but looks a tad narrow-gaugy. The accepted wheel arrangement is 2-6-0+0-6-2. Some people use other designations. Trains tried to update the system (after all the steamers had been retired) and they would have called it something like (2-6-0)+(0-6-2) to let you know that both engines swiveled.
Do you need any info on the rest of the collection?
 
Sure sounds like Dennis is becoming a party animal ! I lost count how many parties he attended 4 0r 5 Saturday, then 1st thing Sunday morning.

Had an enjoyable weekend around here. Nothing major accomplished but a lot of little things.

Well as that old guy use to say: If you don't have anything to say then, Shut-Up! So guess that's what I'll do.

Beautiful day yesterday! 60 and Sunny! First weekend in a long time! Yardwork, with a lot of breaks with the girls! Sat on the swing and shared a coke with 3-yo...good times!

Good Morning. I am on call, so I go in a bit later. Supposed to go to 78 today, so I think it is shorts again. Gotta love being in the South (well, until July comes about, then it's time for AC). I have been reading some of my older train magazines and noticing the advancements (mostly), made. I also note the number of older items that I have aquired over the years.
Chief, I wasn't invited for Chocolate cake either! I did have some at FIL's and then, after the dinner we had last night, I'm still full.

Good morning folks

It was a chilly 41 F as I headed out this morning. Our high today is supposed to be in the lower 50s. We do have the chance of some rain. This weekend’s weathered was all fouled up. Saturday was supposed to be rainy and Sunday sunny. Well, Saturday was a great day and Sunday was rainy and cold. As a result of the weather my son’s Little League photos were done but my daughters were postponed.

On Friday night we went out to dinner for my birthday which was on Thursday. I had a birthday email from Famous Dave’s Barbeque that said come in and check the prize number to see what you won. I won a free Great American Barbeque Feast. It is a meal for 6 people, two racks of ribs, a whole chicken, a 1/2 lb of beef brisket and a bunch of sides. It was a $57.00 meal for free! We are still working on the leftovers.

We worked in the yard some. My wife bought a new arbor to replace the one we have. I put it together and now it has to be painted before we can put it in place.

We also did some vacation planning. Right now we are planning to head north to Maine. Of course the last time we tried Maine we wound up in Orlando. I spent much of the weekend trying to find responsible hotels central to what we want to do. Also spent time trying to find places to stop on the way since this will be a driving vacation.

No modeling got done over this weekend. I did, however, finish inputting the boxcars into the computer inventory. This finishes the rolling stock. Next is the passenger equipment and locos. I also have a big pile of unbuilt and unweathered stuff on the workbench that I did not enter. I currently have weathered and ready for running on the layout 229 freight cars, MOW cars, and cabooses.

Tom that is one cool loco!

Well we have 47 going to 70. I wonder if it will actually reach it. Time will tell. Too early for anything newsworthy so a good morning is it.

Any info would be great. BTW - this is just part of the donation. I loaded my mini-van twice and there is more coming.
