Sp PennDot is no better or worse than any other division
It is nice to be home after a long week. I will not get around to doing much for another week. We have to go to Lancaster to pick up the farm truck tomorrow then I have to go back down late Sunday night. So in a nut shell I will be busy for the next few weeks.
I got home this evening and spent what little time I had fighting a out break of ringworm. A nasty fungus that meant I had to do some treatment and disinfecting. My little one was not so lucky and was the only one of the family to get it. It appears to be contained to the cats and has not spread to the livestock. However I didn't take any chances and went through containment and lock down procedures.
I guess my only day home which is Sunday will be spent doing some more disinfecting and trying making sure all the cats are contained. The wife wasn't too happy when she noticed me starting to disinfecting her front porch. She is just lucky they are not house cats.:twisted:
My LHS did stop by the farm and dropped off the new Lionel and K-Line catalogs but I haven't even open them up yet.
Speaking of boats mine is still under the apple trees. I did get to wax the Verado 275 a few times but it has only been in the water once this year. I didn't know people still bought Rangers. I even had to pass on my trip to West Arm of Lake Nippissing.
Oh as a side note I made my fourth trip to Strasburg this year, one of these days I just might make it there when it is actually open.sign1 At least the parking lots have a tons of spaces. I plan on going tomorrow if I can get everyone up early enough and they don't spend too much time at the outlets. My wife has to bring the big truck back so I'm not sure if we will get the time to make it there or not.
I think I added enough detail for the last month of August so i will take some time to see what I have missed in the forums.

sorry I havent been able to post recently, I've been on the move and now I'm coming to you from my grandma's apartment in Chinatown, San Francisco via my aunt's laptop! Today in peticular was very lucky for me. Two days ago I bought a little train clock and got into a train related chat with the casheer, and when I said I was into model railroading, she gave me the address of a local hobby shop! I visited them today, and I was just browsing the rolling stock when a helpfull employee named Jim came along, and after talking about the use of old cars on shortlines, he showed me the used and abused box. It was there my luck shined, for inside was a almost new boxcar from Life-Like from some time ago (no date on box and no papers), two Tyco cars from a set I think (some reefer and a 'VERY' nice Chesse caboose), and the literal shining gem of it all, a dissasembled desiel switcher!( I'm not kidding, aside from a missing washer on the drive axel, the bag contaned one complete unpainted switcher, which was gold). However, Jim then showed me how to oil the engine of the switcher and made sure it worked, and to top it all off, he gave me all of the aforementioned stuff FREE!!!!! Because of this enormous generosity and kindness, I'm defenently going to give them return bussness!

Hi, again....a little update. I got myself a boat motor and trailer for 1800 and had to replace all the wood in it but now have a nice 18' fishing boat with electronics and a bow mount trolling motor. Still working on the house but it has been slow because of knee problems...and the 2 Docs at VA, one wants me to get a new knee the other is saying I'm to young for that....so i limp a lot...LOL. Was very busy this spring with 2 new grandchildren, a girl and boy and another due any time. And getting pasture fences in for the steers and a pen built for the pigs which are alomost ready for the dinner table. Haven't really had time for the layout but will start again onthat soon as fall hits if hunting doesn't get in the way....oh yea and scuba diving....just finishing my advanced serts for that too.

Thanks for the welcome back!:mrgreen: My new stuff is all in pretty good condition, the best being my lifelike oldie because other than a bent footgrab, it's still shiny, even though the box is in poor condition. The small switcher is also in great condition, but other than that it is a mystery to me, for there is NO indication of the manufactuer or place of creation on ANY of the parts, and my only clue being "Hustler" on the grill. Lastly, THe TYCO cars are defenntly toy set quality, seeing as the weights are the only metal part on them, they are almost completley molded with needed details, no windows at all, and they have truck mounted couplers! I'd post pics in the weekly pic thread, but I can't take any pics untill I get home.

Well I finally made it to both the Toy Train Museum and the Railroad Museum in Strasburg to day. I didn’t make it across the street but I did get to see the steam locomotive in action.
I found out if it is a very hot day the inside of the museum could be even hotter. It was well worth the time spent walking among the old ladies. I was surprised how much they actual could fit inside the building. My daughter and wife enjoyed the trip to the Toy Museum and I think they wore out a few buttons on the displays.
My opinion is still out for the train store though. The stock is split between the gauges and the store is small and has a limited amount of O gauge trains. The counter person didn’t impress me. He was rude to the older customers and kept getting in the way stocking the shelves. I’m not sure if he was the owner but I sure hope he isn’t treated the way he treats his older customers. It was enough to make me not make a purchase and I helped the older man find the die cast car he was looking for.
It was a long day with 6 hours of driving and about 7 hours split between the shopping and Strasburg. I did notice the traffic was about 20 times worse on the weekends. The highlight of the trip was the Pennsylvania Turn Pike Tunnels though. It was the first time my wife had to actually drive a vehicle through any of them. However she brought the truck home in one piece even if she drove like she was attached to my bumper.
