Chat Room Link

I assume the chat room is also undergoing growing pains. When I try to check in there, it tells me that someone with the same username is already signed in! I logged out the last time I was there, so something is amiss! Any suggestions?
 
Well, last night in a effort to clean out all the names that were hanging around the chat rooms, even after the people left, we had a few hang-ups.:oops: :oops: Every time we'd change or try to reset the chat room, it's ID would change. As a result, the chat room link under "quick links" no longer works. But for those interested in going into chat, and I saw a few of you going in there last night when things were too screwed up to respond, here is the correct link to take you to "The Gauger's depot":

This is just one example of how easy it is to screw things up while trying to straighten things out.

OK, I know there are no stupid questions, but how about a question for Stupid? I see this chat room stuff all the time, so I clicked on the new something or other you posted, and got into a blue space that said I entered at such and such a time. I got there, but WHAT IS a chat room? I feel like a model A mechanic fooking with fuel injectors!!:pwall1

Lynn, our chat consists of several rooms, you can go into any room and if there are other people there, you can have a conversation with them. You type your words at the bottom and hit "enter" on your keyboard, and they appear in a continuous list in the main chat window. You can then see other peoples response. Sometimes it's confusing since there may be several people there carrying on several different conversations, kinda like a party. Also on the list are a person's name showing that they just entered the room, or left it. You can change rooms by going to the list right at the top of the screen and select the room you want to enter.

You can open a new room and make it private or public and talk with someone there, and you can even hold a private conversation with someone, and eventually, you should be able to post a picture in a pop-up window.

I think once the chat room has all the bugs worked out here, we will post a list of things you can do and how to do things there. If someone else is there, their name will appear on the list on the right of the screen as bright, and usually with an icon on front of their name. Usually there's someone in the Gauger's depot around 10PM every night. Stop by then.
 
:D In layman's terms - it's what you see here in this thread... from top to bottom... 2 or more people typing in questions and answers but.. it's live, you get answers and comments right away from whoever is in there with you

like talking on a phone, buy you're typing instead of talking :) :) and there can be a bunch of people in there at the same time.....

Hey, that really sounds great. Now, another question, Is there, or, will there be a direct link to it, or do I have to type in that URL each time?

I just clicked on the link you gave and all I got was a decorated blue box. An hour or so ago I went there and saw a couple names and such. Does the plain box just mean that nobody else is there?

Since there are no stupid questions, I guess you can call these just "less intelligent" sign1

For now, use the link in the first post in this thread, or in one of my posts here. it takes you to chat room #19, which right now is "The Gauger's depot", and where we usually talk. Do not use the link in the "quick link" menu at the top right of this window. It is broken right now and takes you to a non-existent chat room and we need to fix that as quickly as we can.:rolleyes: :rolleyes:
 
Even after the new upload, I still can't get into the chat room. No changes have been made to my computer, and I had no problem logging in until the change in ownership.
It still tells me that someone is logged in to the room with the same name. Running Firefox in XP mode, or using IE explorer makes no difference. This is getting quite frustrating!
 
Every time I visit the chat room, there's all kinds of people logged in (tonight there were/are 10). However, I type a greeting with no response from anybody as if they're not really there. Must be my deoderant. Any ideas?
OOps. I just now read post #8 by EZdays. That helps a little. Will try again later.

We're actually waiting for a response on what the new owners think the problem might be... :( I must have mised you last night - - I was there around 8 - 9 your time (10 - 11 EDT)

That's the old room.

As far as "Missing People" One of the problems with the room is that people arent being logged off when they leave.... which is causing a lot of confusion.. wall1wall1

Also - I was there and Brakie came in and we couldn't talk.. I have no idea why :confused:
