hello all---up here in the great white north, the coming of winter brings out some special equipment---out of the shops for the first time this year,cn and th&b snowplows are getting ready for the inevitable
hi deano and gus---thanks for responding and happy thanksgiving to you and your families---the cn plow is from custom brass and the th&b plow is a walther's kit---both were custom painted by the notorious Doctor Wayne---in heavy snowfalls, you often would find a snowplow being pushed by two or three locomotives--- you can imagine the operator's anxiety riding in the cupola as they plowed into those heavy drifts of wet snow---rock and roll !!!
hi andrew---i purchased the walthers snowplow from the" modellers choice hobbyshop" in hamilton some time ago---i just sent an e-mail inquiring whether they still have any in stock---if they do,i'll send you their e-mail address---happy grey cup weekend
Thanks. Modeller's Choice is run by the father of one of the guys in the local modular club. Never been in person, but I might have to put it on the list for the next S Ont tour.
hello everyone---thanks for your responses---although used primarily for maintenance of way tasks,on occasion the cn has used this Jordan Spreader for snow removal
I was just about to mention the Jordan speader but Mr Nutbar beat me to it. Good looking models. Our club has the Walthers plow in canadian national on it's layout.
I have the old MDC speader in kit form but I haven't started it yet. Maybe this winter. It's more of a kitbash than a kit with a fair amout of work to it.
I also have the old Athearn Rotary but it just sits on my shelf looking intimidating.
The Grand Valley/Elora Gorge & Eastern is just on the edge of the southern Ontario snow belt, so we have to be ready for winter, too.
