I have just put up a new WEB page with a video clip that shows two unpowered Proto:87 cars running around 8" radius Proto:87 street track at about 75 mph without any track holding problems in either forward or reverse.

http://www.proto87stores.com/p87stores/movie1.htm

This first version has a very large video file, so is not suitable for viewing via a dial-up connection unless you can afford to wait for the clip to fully download. (about 30 - 90 minutes) . You can however immediately view the remainder of the page and a static picture to get a good idea of what is going on.

If you have a broad band connection, you should of course get the whole movie in just a few minutes.

This movie just about demolishes any possible doubts about Proto:87 track holding issues, both for trains and streetcars. In fact it almost makes it look suitable as a better standard for normal HO, OO and even Toy Trains! ;)

Enjoy!

The rest of the Proto 87 Store website is worth checking out too....

Especially the PRECISION STRASSENBAHN SYSTEMS STUFF!!!! And the TRACTION SPECIAL ITEMS!!!

I am curious about this product but it raises some questions:

First of all, where are the switches?

Second, aside from being a little lower in profile, how is this product superior to Orr girder rail, which is available from www.customtraxx.com?

It's interesting but it seems very tied in to Proto:87...
