Building Scans

Hi there, I had a question for all of you pirating cracker-downers. If I had to make a modification to a model (Say, Hobby Model Jaguar, I had to adjust some of the insignia), and was then building the scans of the model. I know that in of itself isn't normally considered pirating, but what if I wanted to sell the original model? Would I be pirating, since I built it from a scan, and didn't cut up the original?
