Howdee fans! In 2021 I found several images of the original filming miniature by E. James Small. A few weeks ago I dug them out to compare my model with the original to see how my model could be refined. The pictures were very insightful because they showed the model from all sides in almost perfect parallel views. They even featured a ruler which revealed the true size of it. There are a lot of 90° angles on the model which could not be clearly seen in the images I had at hand before. So I tried something and made a quick and dirty second model, this time using the straight-on views:

Here is the comparison of the two:

I was not too far off. The original is just a bit wider, the fins are mounted at a 90° angle toward the fuselage and the rear of the fins is straight and not angled. Moreover, the base line of the model is completely straight. This in particular helps tremendously in aligning the Cylon Raider parts. It too brings the nose higher up than before which was not apparent in the screenshots. James' pictures also show that all previous fan-made models which I have seen before are incorrect. Please note that this was not a result of a lack of skill by the builder but a lack of accurate reference material at the time those models were made. I am glad that I have found those images now because they enable me to produce a much better result. In addition, they prevented me from having to revise the model again, similarly to what happened to the antigrav ship.

I rebuilt the Cylon Raider parts and applied them to the surface of the new model.

A few things must be smoothed out but you can already see where this is going. Stay tuned!
