BSG Mule Tractor

I have all of these BSG flight vehicles of vipers, Raptors and such and no way to move them around. I imagined a vehicle to this job and came up with this small tow vehicle for this purpose.

Fist off I started the wheels. There are three ways that I do my wheels; The old fashion way of pesky tabs and hollow interior tabs. The side laminated way with a hollow core or solid lamination. The one I prefer to do is the rolled method and a separate hub for the center.

On a note: This model is now available for download now in the Battle Star Galactica sub category under the TV and Movies section.category. It can be modified as a pilot shuttle vehicle or anything that you nay come up with. Enjoy the model as much as I did in building it.

(By the way, I usually do not put the instructions with my designs to twart pirates from borrowing my models. This way, if they snatch it, they will have to look up this site as to how to build it. There is nothing more frustrating than to have a model and no instruction on how to build it. This is more frustrating due to my unique way of folding, laminating and the use of mixed media. This little mule is a handy subject and can lead to other variations, but that is a thread for another time.

The center section was cut and folded down to make the back wall and front of the lower dash. There is a cross-member piece that holds up the wheel well walls as well as the top section of the mule, and it also gives it rigidity and strength. It is placed at an angle as shown and the short end is folded down.

Placed the panels and the Lights could have been cut out and either been put on as a raised section or recessed.

The front gauges are on a raised box instead of the lower dash.

A few more build pics. Placed a right inside and placed an instrument cluster next to it.
The right side has a tray for tools or other stuff as needed.

The seat depicted here was discarded and a better one was made as reflected in the plans.

The wheel wells had an interesting mismatch. They were too wide and they extended outside the to become fenders. This little mishap was an advantage to the looks of the vehicle. The problem is, that the wheels will be a tight fit and may have to be reduced slightly to fit in the wheel wells. The inside tips of the fenders should be clip at an angle as shown in the last picture.

There is a disclaimer on the plans for this model. I do not make the build process available with my download models. This is to stop pirates from using my models. This way, they would either have to find this site to copy all of the pics in the build thread or find this site and use the thread as a guide line. Nothing more frustrating, than to have model that you want and lacking the instructions. Sorry for any confusion but if you follow this thread, you should have no problems building this model.

In continuum, more build pics.

The wheel id done with a heavy thread but you can roll a piece of paper into a heavy tube. Either way, saturate it with white glue to hold its shape. I used a paint brush handle to form the shape but any round small object will work as well.

Did the Tow hitch plate and inserted a piece of a toothpick into the hole for the tow hook.

The tow bar can be done with a small thin dowel and the skin wrapped around it or in this case, I laminated the heavy paper into layers and skinned it. Measure the distance from the front landing skid to the mule and cut off the skin necessary.
