Hi, I would like to show you my build of this small ship. Whole movie was crappy, but the ship design is great, purely functional and ugly, so I decided to create a paper model. Well, it was few years ago...

In the begining, there was a ruler, a pencil, and some pictures of the ship. Then was a Gimp. And later...comes the mighty SketchUp, Pepakura, and Photoshop, so everything started again...

Ok, let's see what we've got now:

Then, we need some base for this ship:


And model itself. Not so great as Skoda's, this one is in original A4 size, and printed with ink HP printer.

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!

You have done such a fantastic job. The modeling, the texture, the stand - you name it, it is superb. Thank you for the WIP pics; I always wanted to understand how this odd ship is put together. It's an honour to "meet" the original creator of this fantastic model. I too use the Gimp and SketchUp for my models. I'm so looking for updates. Keep it on! :thumb:

Good software is half the way to the great model. Anyway, there is still work to do, I need to finish the wings and other details and clean up everything, Skoda is building from total mess of the parts, without any instructions..
Just, patience, my friends. :idea:

Nah.... I don't agree with you ........

A computer and its components (software, hardware, etc....) are only as good as its manufacturer.

To create and construct an artistic impression like you have done here, takes an ARTIST.

So, not 50/50 (half way,) as you stated, but 10% to the PC/Software and 90% to the artist behind the keyboard.

Namely, YOU! :thumb:

I totally agree with that statement. Computers, cr@p in=cr@p out! :)
 
Amazing work you should be proud of!

It is very satisfying to be able to hold something that started only as an idea.

Hi Josh, this model is NOT FINISHED yet, there is still a lot work to do. Skoda's build is just some kind of... alpha test, he is receiving piece by piece from me, once the Betty is finished she'll be availlable FOR FREE.
Good news is that I'm drawing the textures for the wing , which is actually the last group of the model, bad news is that I'm busy and it's difficult to find some spare time to finish this.
Well, there is some progress anyway, I hope we'll see some pipework on the back of the Skoda's Betty. ;)



Pipeworks on the back and quick build of the unfinished wing, just to verify the camouflage fits the parts.

I'm sorry if I missed this, but I was curious how this model will be distributed when you are finished. Will you offer it here, or do you have a website?
 
I love this model! The texture is gorgeous. How did you make it?

Cadeus: No need for the website, I'll pin it somewhere and post a link for download.
R-Fan: All textures are hand-drawn in Photoshop, basic paint layer, then camouflage stripes, then rust, smoke and dirt, lights and shadows for panel edges, and finally, some scratches and colour chipping. It is very time consuming, but I like it that way. ;)
P.S.: Sorry for my bad english, I'm not a native speaker.

Definitely worth the effort, some of the best textures I've seen rendered on a paper model. That is before and without an expert modeler painting it afterwards. Amazing work, always helps when you have a testbuilder like skoda.
 
I wish I could do textures like this. Great artistry! :)
