Betty 1/144 build up & 1/700 experimental

I've started the beautiful model from Vger1981:

The smugglership BETTY from the 4th Alien movie. I love the the design of the ship and Vger1981 done a wonderful template out of - THANKS!

I have planned a simple "out of the box" build (so far)
Starting with the cockpit and engine inlet - quit easy:


The central part of the body was reinforced at the bottom with cardboard. (because of the stand)

Thanks. Not much progress today. But I decided to built a second Betty just a little smaller… 1/700 - to match the Sulaco

So you are doing two projects at one time?
Granted, they may be the same model, but this will be interesting to watch and follow. BEST OF LUCK!!! thumbsup

Wow, this is crazy! Well, it looks that you are the first oficial builder of the final version, I can only wish you a good luck! Anyway, just for the record, try to reinforce as much of the central parts as you can, you will have to calculate all the weight of the tail, wings, etc.
Also, I hope this will help, it's in Slovak, but I think you can figure it out easily..

Progress on the big on:

…and the small one:
I laminated the hinges for the engines on cardboard (half of the end thickness) to enforce them.


And cut them out - without the side surfaces.


… and glued them together



Then cut the side surface out of the 80g paper.
I colored all edges with a pen.

Unfortunately I can not find the correct installation height at the machine section…


maybe I should wait until I 've finished the thruster tubes.

You are doing well! Don't worry, glue that part as you wish, just leave the space for the engines at the bottom.
