Neat proto/model comparison shots TrainNut!
Well, after looking at all of the bay window cabins above I decided to head over to one of my local hobby shops that has a bargain basement of second hand equipment. I found this caboose (with magnetic couplers!) for $3.99! I can't do as nice a job representing the PC bay window cabin I saw in the Walther's catalog but I think Susan will come through for me and buy it as a gift. She takes my "hints" seriously.
I plan to paint my newest acquisition in the slate blue and orange KP&W scheme of my freelanced road. I'll post a pic when its done.
I believe the Cedar Valley Western scheme is probably some one's freelance. There were several box cars in this scheme and some loocomotives too. It made me a little sad to see all of this work on the second hand shelf and made me wonder if the former owner is OK, just decided to get out of the hobby, or is changing scales.... In any case, just as in the real world, equipment gets sold and repainted for a new road.
Maybe model rail fans will watch the KP&W cabin roll by, check their records and say, "Oh yeah, that's a former Cedar Valley Western caboose!"
