Beating dead printers

I have searched thru the forums but do not find any information regarding a good printer that is capable of the following

11x17 or 11x24 paper
up to 110 lb cardstock
supports ciss
Wireless network connectivity

From everything I have read it would appear very few members here print anything bigger than 8.5x11 (in usa) and A4 (in other countries). All the printers mentioned, when I check the specs on them most of them only support up to 65# cardstock. Which is strange since I have seen alot of mentions that they were able to print on 80 - 110 lb cardstock.

Does anyone have a recommended printer that is currently sold that supports the above specs?

Have you checked out the Epson WorkForce 7110? It can print up to 13" wide and a user definable length of up to 47.2" according to the specificatons on the Epson site. It can handle photo paper so 110#/199 gsm cardstock should not give it any problems.
Here is a site that sells that printer with an installed CISS:
https://www.cobraink.com/Printers/epson7110.htm
You can also buy just the CISS and install it yourself.

They also sell the Epson WorkForce 7610 with a CISS:
https://www.cobraink.com/Printers/epson7610.htm
It can handle the same size and weight of paper as the 7110.

I do not know how easy or reliable those printers or the CISS are, but they do look promising.

After looking at the epson workforce printers there were only 2 with the requirements I wanted. However neither of the paper handling specs show any paper above photo paper, nothing on cardstock.

Epson WorkForce WF-7620 All-in-One Printer - Product Information - Epson America, Inc.

Epson WorkForce WF-7610 All-in-One Printer - Product Information - Epson America, Inc.

So I went to a local Office depot and brought some 110 cardstock with me, fed it into the printers when none of the workers were looking and attempted to print a test page and immediate paper jams. Sooooo....Guess it wont be epson.

I use an epson artisan 1430. It handles 110#, no problems, 11"x 17" no problems, wireless or USB. Ciss, not so much. three outta four ain't bad, and my printer rocks, IMHO.

I have a Epson Workforce 1100, 13" x 19" (or longer) printer, and I think I could stick a log in it. It swallows everything. It is easy to fix, and I buy refillable cartridges from www.inkproducts.com they sell O.E.M. Epson Pigment Archival ink, at ridiculously low prices. I just purchased an Epson A320 from Walmart for $39.00 dollars, and it prints 110 lb. card stock. I feed it one piece at a time. I purchased it for the scanner, at $39.00 bucks, I didn't care if the printer worked, but it does, and quite well. As far as CISS, that you have to do yourself. I don't recommend it though, algae can develop, your better off with refillable cartridges. I always have extra ones to use in if it reads low. If it still has ink, I shake the shit out of it and stick if back in!!

www.inkproducts.com sells what they call the "Ink Refill Station", call them up, YES, they answer they phone. Make sure you purchase a printer that uses PIGMENT INK, not Dye Sublimation!! Dye ink runs with water, and fades away. Pigment ink is Archival. They will help you prepare your order, then you order through their website. For $100 bucks, I got enough ink to last over a year, and I have a 16 year old, and my wife is documentation specialist. They also include, on top of the huge bottles of ink, two sets of cartridges, full of ink! Also, you get a nozzle cleaning kit, with cleaning fluid, with instructions, and syringes for each color, so there's no cross contamination. I have written a tutorial on how to fix that kind of stuff on this forum as I had an electronics repair shop for 10 years. Good Luck. Below is just what I would do now if my wide format printer broke, and I couldn't fix it.

I would try this printer, before they are gone, they are pretty low in price, and better than the newer version, so far as set up, which I believe is a "people" issue.

Forget about them stating 110. card stock, you have to Google that from actual users. This one is said to be able to do so. You should not use photographic paper when building models. They will fall apart, it's not the way to go. Paint them if you want to get to a higher level.

I guess you missed my post above where I stated I went to Officedepot and actually put 110# cardstock into both the 7610 and 7620 and they jammed up. :frak:

The 7610 will only take matte 110 lb. card stock, from what I have read from actual users. Photographic would slip on the rollers. You tried it though, I paid $160 for my Workforce 1100, then they shot up to over $400 bucks. I don't know why? Good luck on the hunt. You're going to have to spend a lot of money of a wide format printer to do what you want. Sorry for missing the post, I read on a forum they would take 110. Matte paper. Good Luck!
