Starting with the top.
I had to adjust the line thickness a bit to make them look good. I am now tweaking the contrast on a few selected parts. CU!

I have run into a minor problem with the trench. The first version had only a 1 mm strip for glueing which really was a pain in the a...ssembly. The new way should be better but requires a few more parts. I'll test it tomorrow and show you some new pics.

Now work continues on the inside.
As stated above the first trench construction was too complicated. This is the revised version which is much simpler:
A rim piece is laminated to cardboard and glued to the inside of the front of the top side and the bottom side.
The front trench is attached to the top side. Greeblies are attached later because they would interfere with the glueing procedure.
Back side trench with LOTS of greeblies laminated to cardboard. The rectangle at the right will be attached after the engine box is attached to make sure that everything fits.
The back trench is glued to the top. The recessed flaps are laminated to cardboard.
The sides get some flaps. The back side of them is coloured with a pencil.
The side flaps are glued to the trench pieces.

The skeleton was completely re-newed because I found out that the basic construction is supporting itself very well except for two areas (the bend in the wings and the middle of the back part of the wings). So I was able to reduce the parts and skip the card laminations.
AAARGH! I knew it - Dan is a ming-reading JEDI!!!
No kidding: We DEFINITELY need the Narcissus to make the Alien line-up complete (Prometheus would be a fine addition, too, BTW).

It's the one I've been doing the instructions on. I really should stop getting distracted and get on with it.
A small but significant update: The top and bottom halves were joined. My strategy worked like a charm. Both halves met exactly at the intended places. The skeleton works and prevents the model from being crushed.
Some greeblies are attached. The base for the thrusters are the only place which is not 100 % accurate due to the nature of the thrusters used. The original featured the boosters of the second stage of an 1:144 scale Saturn V kit. At this scale the tubes and greeblies become so small that they are almost impossible to build. So I simplified these areas in order not to spoil the building experience for beginners. In addition, it would not make much sense to build the most complex piece when it is well hidden inside a trench.
I save the thrusters for later to prevent them from being ripped off by accident while detailing the bottom. CU later!
