My good friend cn nutbar dropped-by last night for a visit and to shoot a some pictures. Here are a few shots, taken mostly by him.
This locomotive was left with me previously for a small repair. While I did get the repair done, along with a general lube of the loco, we found that it didn't run very well. (I had done only a very short test run to make sure that the recent repair was okay - I shoulda known better!!):v8: Nevertheless, we caught a few shots of it around the layout. Here she is in South Cayuga:
And, after a stuttering run around the layout, passing through Lowbanks:
Here she is exiting the tunnel from Elfrida, and rolling out onto the Speed River bridge:
In a seldom-seen view (because of the unfinished scenery
ops: ) she climbs the northbound grade towards Park Head, crossing over the area seen in the previous photo:
In this shot, taken from farther up the northbound track, she's just about back onto terra firma:
And a final look from a vantage point high over the valley, about a half-mile farther up the looping track:
The visiting photographer also caught Grand Valley Mogul 34 leaving Lowbanks with a short train:
And later, rolling across the Chippawa Creek bridge:
And, as a parting shot, EG&E wreck derrick 160, parked near the downtown Dunnville industrial district.
After the visit, I checked over the 6060, and traced the problem to dirty contact points where the trucks were fastened to the tender. Because of the safety chains installed between the truck sideframes and the tender, it wasn't possible to completely remove the trucks, but I did manage to get enough clearance to be able to use some 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper to remove the oxidation from the contact points. She now runs as smoothly as her prototype.
