A memorial to my mum (A BRTC25 Thunder Fighter in BSG livery).

Several years ago, I build a BRTC25 Thunder Fighter in BSG livery in remembrance of my mother (who passed away in 2008). She was a HUGE fan of both BSG and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century). So, I have decided to rebuild that model again (as well as build a launch bay diorama around it).

I started with the cockpit interior


The cockpit tub is complete.


The back "trunk" (storage) compartment is attached.


This is the joystick mount/lower sensor unit.


Here is the joystick.


The joystick mount/lower sensor unit and joystick are attached in place.


The side panel controls are attached in place. I raised the buttons on the panels.




The seat is attached in place.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is time for another update. I am now working on the main body of the body components.

I started with the framework.


I wrapped the engine section of the sponsons.


I attached both body halves.




Normally, these section have simple recessed rectangles. As you can see, I have made wedged recess intakes (in order to make the closer to being screen accurate).


The intake section is complete.


Here us a different view of the intakes. As you can see, the intake section looks proper.


The first intake section is attached.


Both intake sections are attached.

Moving on to the outer fuselage.


I attached the cockpit tub to the top fuselage skin.


I attached the intake system to the back of the top fuselage skin.


I attached the top fuselage skin to the rest of the plane.


I attached the bottom fuselage skin to the rest of the plane (and added greebling).


Here is the back end (between the engine exhausts).

The template for the cockpit is designed for the builder to choose either a single seat or a two seat configuration (not only that, but with the QUAD variant, you can build either a two seat variant (sitting side-by-side) or the full four seat variant). For this particular project, I opted with the single seat variant.

My mum loved both shows. We would watch them together, and have (rather) in-depth conversations about the episodes and technologies of both series.

I am thinking about making a YouTube video about simple greebling and how to take printed texture and turn them into physical texture. If (and when) I do, I will post a thread (along with a link) about it.
