A bunch of spammers have joined the forum

And we've been deleting them and banning those spammers as fast as we know about them. Thanks for the help, we've been invaded by a bunch of spammers these past few days and we've been taking measure to slow them down.

Please keep reporting these posts as soon as you see them, just click on the "report post" icon to the lower left. So far we've had over 30 suspected spammers register between yesterday and today and they've been keeping the staff busy.

They are using a software package that allows them to get by all the pre-screening barriers in many forums including vBulletin which we use. They can change IP addresses and email addresses like we change our socks, but we can and do ban them by that if we find a commonality or an especially offensive email address.

We're doing what we can, we ask you to do what you can, especially, do not respond to their post and do not click on their links. Sometimes we do when we need to verify what it is their selling, but that's the risk we have to take. Don't you...

Im an administrator for another forum (Not MRR, music related) so I know what your talking about. Its always an uphill battle but its up to the community to keep it clean.
 
I have reported spam a couple of times to the admins, but the fact that I've only seen spam on here a few times is a testament to the great job the admins do here on the Gauge. I think sometimes it is easy to forget what a great job our admins do on this forum. Thanks folks!
 
With the kids on here I would love to take some of those porn spammers and just hurt them, hurt them a lot for a long long time.

Anyhow, keep up the good job guys. I know it is not easy keeping on top of this, but your efforts on protecting us and the kids here are MUCH appreciated. I know the parents and those who are decent here are happy you are diligent. :)

I really enjoy this site, it is sometimes hard to put the word professional together with a hobby however since I have such a passion for MRR I think The Gauge operates and dessiminates information in a highly Professional manner. All the while maintaining a friendly environment. Don't ever change this :thumb:
