-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A letter From Joseph L. Christy, an African American soldier, writing to
his sister about killing confederates, burning trains and transporting
slaves to freedom in the final days of the Civil War:
-------------------------
April the 27th 1865
My dear Sister,
... We captured abut two hundred Cars and twenty three lokemotoves and
burnt them up and we brot for thousand slaves with us to Georgetown..
Was one of the gratest sites I ever seen..
We started on the 4th of Aprile and got back on the 26th and we march
every day. this is all I have to tell you at this time nothen mor at
present but still remain....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note From Mikey: The spelling is right from the Calendar.. I didn't
want to "fix it" only because - it's from a historical letter written
119 years ago, in the history of the US
I love this kind of
stuff and thought I'd share it here - due to the train subject

23 Locomotives & 200 cars destroyed & 4000 slaves freed !!
