"A Battlestar's Quest" aka "Raiders of the Lost Crest"

Hey, is this guy related to Geordi on "Star Trek"? That would mean the blindness it is a genetic problem, dealt with in two separate universes, the same way, joined only by the thin reality we live in. My head hurts. :)

Quick update: I have finally found some decent cardboard in a tan colour. The original colour was some sort of mustard but my find comes as close to it as possible at the moment. Nevertheless, I like the colour, and it will do the job (anyway, I can spray-paint it later afterwards ;) ). :)

Today I found some 1 m LED strips with warm white LEDs. A quick test shows that they are usable. Not quite like the original but they will do their job. ;)

The lights are bright but not too bright. A light box made of black card will hide the lights which are not supposed to be visible. The box will be hidden behind the side pieces of the helmet. The battery holder will be placed in the neck, the switch in the chin guard. The left helmet is the mockup I am working with. The right one is another mockup which was too small. Below them you see the coloured card I will be using. It is a nice tan colour and comes as close to the original as possible. If necessary it can be spray-painted later. :)

Folks, it's great to see the enduring interest in this project. The prototype is still sitting in front of my desk. This project is not abandoned, I only need some more time to finish it. I wish I could clone myself to master the workload real life is putting on me. Please let me assure you that this year will become very special because a certain 40th anniversary is lying ahead. The Aurora, Viper, the OTT, the Galactica and the Viper helmet are on top of my list and I really hope to tackle them one at a time soon. The main advantage is that all models (save for the Big G) are almost ready. The reason why I am so slow with them is that I'm still renovating my flat and I have almost no real workspace left; I'm living between boxes, literally. So please be patient and stay tuned! :)
