The Building of the Galactic Fleet

Hey Skyseeker, it's been a while. The fleet is temporarily on hold, but I hope to be back very soon to finish up the Colonial Movers & continue work on the fleet. Been a very busy last few months. Hope you are doing well my friend. :)

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

I haven't been able to do much on the CM these past few evenings. I did start putting the mid-section together ( part 28, & parts 11 for the cones). I found a wooden dowel measuring 3/8" in diameter (sorry, I'm not sure what that translates to in mm) that I'm hoping to use to reinforce the spine...

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

Thanks Skyseeker, btw, you're earlier comment about my build of this particular ship coinciding with my moving I had to chuckle at. I really could have used a full size version of this ship to help me in my move. It's amazing how much crap can accumulate around the place in just a few short...

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

I made just a few additions this evening. Starting with some greebling with the yellow & red conduits on the starboard side & the housing they feed into. My craftsy & artistic daughter suggested I use colored paper clips , so I did & I'm very happy with the results. I also assembled the rear...

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

Added a few more greebles on the topside of the main hull. Hope I'm not overdoing it. Once I get in greeble-mode, it's hard to stop!;)

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

Thank you Revell-Fan for noticing my screw up before I got much farther:headbange: , & also for that front view pic of the ship. It helps to have a different perspective. I had to lightly score the glue joints on the top of the wing where it meets the main hull, & on the bottom of the cockpit...

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

I've begun a little bit of greebling with these panels on the bottom side of the main hull.

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

The cockpit section, with all parts glued together & attached to the port side wing (part 14). I hope I got the angle positioning right with the bigger section. That's how I interpreted it from the instruction pics. The bottom pic shows the approximate position in glueing to the wing.

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

The parts for the "cockpit, bridge?" section laid out & partially assembled. From left to right, parts 15, 16, 17, & 18. For part 19 I substituted a small section of toothpick & painted it gray. It attaches underneath the cockpit bubble. For the cockpit bubble, I substituted a plastic pea-sized...

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

Well, I very much enjoy building your models. I really appreciate the hard work you put into them, & the incredible detail. I also find them to be at a very good level of challenging. I hope I can do you proud with this build, as well as with other ships ( yours & other designers) as this thread...

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

Moving over to the port side, I rolled & glued part 17, & that's as far as I got this evening.

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

Parts 21, 22 & 23 glue together in that order, the picture shows the positioning of the assembled parts on the starboard side. Part 24 is to be glued just above part 21. That finishes up the starboard side of the head, though I may come back later & add a few greebles.

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

I have finally gotten somewhat settled from recently moving, & so finally getting to a place where I can get back to working on these models. I sure have missed it! So, this evening I resumed work on Revell-Fan's Colonial Movers after a few months of it sitting in a moving box. Picking up where...

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

Glad to hear you've been keeping busy Z. I've been wondering what you've been up to. Seriously though, can we make a t-shirt, or maybe one of those license plate frames that says"I'd rather be Paper-Modeling!"?

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

I appreciate your asking, Skyseeker. The move is done. Finally! It's been a very rough few months. I won't go into too many details, but we've been having to scramble to get our old house remodeled so we could move back into it. It needed a lot of repairs & upgrades before we could completely...

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

Here's another Pinterest find, it's also on Deviantart. (last one for a while, I promise);). A Star Trek/BSG hybrid. I can't decide if it's an abomination or not, but I think I kind of like it. It is some interesting concept art & I think it would make for one very interesting paper model build.:)

The Building of the Galactic Fleet

Here is another Pinterest find. ( I've seriously been getting addicted to Pinterest lately,) I don't know if it comes in a poster or not, but I thought I'd share it. I would love to have my future nerd lair ceiling covered in mixed genre sci-fi paper models with a space backdrop!:) Or should I...
