    I do have a separate transformer and CDU for the points. That was a very old post and the diagram shows how I have it all set up. I was looking through my old posts after taking up the hobby again after illness and saw that Bob had posted a question that went unanswered.

    Woodie; I think you have a very bright 14 year old on your hands and he is going to teach us all. Of course, I haven't understood a word either of you has uttered on this thread. I'm wondering if planning a train trip between Melbourne and Sydney (Colonials???) is worth planning into our...

    Model RR on TV

    I get FOX news with Fox and Friends in Australia on Foxtel cable. Any idea how far behind the shows are? I have a feeling they're in real time so I'll adjust for the time zones and hopefull catch the show.

    Plaster Cloth

    For anybody reading a 7 month old post... A friend of mine's mother works at a vet and they have a 'use by date' on their plaster bandage: after a certain time they have to throw it out! If you ask around at a local vet or doctor you may be able to get some of this now useless (to them)...

    Your websites

    Woody, I hate to say it but you seem to have captured the stereotypical Aussie bush town of the 60s-80s. From the little white picket fences to the gum trees. Are your T and S class Victorian Railways locos made by Lima? I have a B class and it sucks. Pickup on front left and back right...

    Toilet windows

    Welcome Triman, We Aussies are planning to take over this forum as a small step to taking over the worlds. HAHAHAH *GULP* (takes medicine)... I thought Aussies all worked on cattle stations, said "g'dat mate", wore cork hats and had pet kangaroos called skippy. Everyone has that stereotype...

    24vdc 2a ======> 12vdc 2a

    Vic- It isn't a train transformer but just a noraml plug pack, it has no control options or anything other than inputs and outputs. You're right about the resistors generating a lot of heat 48w at my count. the only way can see to get this working is with a huge series matrix :rolleyes: ! I know...

    Hi, I think a bridge rectifier is a way getting AC or uncertain polarity DC into a set + and -. No, I haven't cooked any point motors because I still use a Capacitor Discharge Unit to supply the current. I got it from DSE for about $12. Next time I'm in the Colonial area I'll make sure...

    I have found a 24VDC 2A powerpack on eBay for AU$10. Do any of you guys have a suggestion to get it down to a useable volatge (eg. 12V)? A resistor matrix? What resistors? A 2:1 transformer? where in Aus can I get one? :confused: --Chris (Sempak)

    Hi all, This is my first post to the forum so I decided to offer something i recently discoverered, this may have been said before but I can't see it. On my first layout with powered points i used a common negative wire and two positives. I had no CDU so the trains slowed down every time the...
