Preliminaries for DS9 Operation Return diorama

@ennder Thank-you so much for looking for them! :D I had a brief fling with sketchup last year, but I lost my patience with it quite quickly . I reckon that the differences between the Peregrine and attack fighter won't be noticed much at the size I'm building them - lol - 30m turns...

Preliminaries for DS9 Operation Return diorama

My knight in shining armour sent me a jemmie cruiser - woohoo! :D I also found a Peregrine attack vessel schematic which I can adapt, so I'm back on track for Operation Return :D

Preliminaries for DS9 Operation Return diorama

Well, I'm not Professor Farnsworth so - "Bad news everyone!" After searching the net for three days I can't find ortho's for either the attack fighter or the Jem'Hadar cruiser and since there are loads of each involved in most of the Dominion War battles I'll have to come up with something else...

Preliminaries for DS9 Operation Return diorama

I'm currently in the research stage for building a diorama based on Operation Return in DS9. The scale will have to be around 1:8000 because of restraints on the amount of space I have. This will make DS9 between 7" and 8" in diameter, the Galaxy class and Jem'Hadar cruisers around 3" in length...

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

@spaceagent-9 @Rhaven Blaack @Cforrest900 @kirby stewart Thank you all very much! :D @Revell-Fan I'm just going to paint the filament and welding rod supporting it with a mix of red paint and fluorescent yellow - I think it'll give a much better effect than even a 1mm fibre optic filament. I've...

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

I still have some work to do on the Ent-D's phaser, but in the meantime I've got some preliminary shots. I connected the LED wiring inside the capsule of plastic I mentioned yesterday and encased it in a very thin layer of cotton wool which I teased out a bit here 'n' there. When that was done I...

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

@spaceagent-9 Thanks Jim :D. This one's just a bit over 3" - I'm slipping! ;) @Revell-Fan lol Stranger things happen at sea - and even stranger things in space - so mibbe they will use my thread :D @Rhaven Blaack Thanks Rhaven :D. And now it's coming apart... ;) Now that the lead ship is...

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

I joined the parts for the rear of the upper nacelles, connected the halves and fixed them to the wings. I then tried to make tubes of the parts for the disruptors and failed miserably! Instead I decided to use wire with the larger diameter parts wrapped around them:- The version of negh'var...

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

I joined all the parts for the lower nacelle and attached the nacelles to the underside. Work was then begun on the upper halves of the nacelles:- With the front sections joined up, I cut the parts for the rear sections:- This is a very time-consuming build due to all the tiny modules that...

The bulk of the underside is done and I then moved on to the nacelles for the underside:-

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

With all the modules for the rear of the dorsal side built I could then connect them all and join them to the superstructure:- The modules for the front had previously been built (before I rediscovered the instructions) and were also connected. I then started cutting parts for the ventral...

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

I've joined up the front of the crew quarters and cut the parts for the rear:- I then connected both halves and cut the base and wing chevron sections:- The instructions are given from the top working down to the superstructure; I prefer working out from the superstructure to avoid having...

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

I've now attached the impulse boosters properly and then I cut some parts for the hangar deck:- I'm back into fiddly territory - the bevel is ~0.5mm thick and I'm having to use my fingernails to fold the protruding wee boxes (the schematics don't tell us what they are...). With the front...

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

I am a total numpty!!! I had a look in the Klingon files on my flash drive while I was checking for Jim's TAS tug and there were the instructions! Things should progress a wee bit quicker now - lol.

    tas star trek cargo-2 vessel

There's a tug on paper modelers (downloads p10) that's labelled TOS thug USS Sherman by Bones. I've not built it though so I don't know if it has the extra front part...

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

I've just found some detailed reference pics for a negh'var, so I now know where the mystery pieces go :D. Unfortunately, the impulse boosters should have been connected to those 'T' pieces rather than directly to the hull so it's just as well that I printed extras of the design :(.

Star Trek TNG:- "All Good Things" Diorama - micro build log

With a few more pieces cut I can start posting pics again ;). To be honest though, I have absolutely no idea where these parts go! with the exception of the impulse boosters. I've joined up what I can and by a process of elimination I'll eventually work out what the other bits are. In the...
