Its FRIDAY 4-15-05, weekend modeling plans!

I have some interesting Tichy boxcar kits that I'm working on. They have a kit of a 'rebuid' that's totally unique. It's a boxcar that has been rebuilt from a wooden car and has had steel sheathing, updated brake equipment, and other newer details added. It's a great model of a recycled car and...

    scratchbuilding Catenary wire

Hey, Chris... I posted this same reply elsewhere for your info, but wanted to pass it along for the crew here at The Gauge. Traction overhead design for US road prototypes can easily be built if the towers are simply steel 'I' beams or poles. The most unique towers are found along the NE...

Help a newbie spend his money

Hey, Snowbound... Sounds like you and I are going in the same direction with space and layout considerations. I have a space in my basement that is about the same size as yours. I put in a dividing wall and now have to put in a drop ceiling, wiring, paint, and get it cleaned up. From there...

It's FRIDAY 3-18-05, weekend modeling plans!

I'm working on a pair of Funaro & Camerlengo Erie steel milk cars. The Erie converted a few of them to express/mail storage cars by scrapping the reefer doors and installing internal sliding doors. They made the runs between the big cities with the overnight trains and were painted in the Erie...

It's FRIDAY 3-04-05, weekend modeling plans!

Good Morning, Matt... I like the Bethlehem Car Works head end car kits. I'm working on another one, this time an Erie RR lightweight baggage car. I'll have most of the car built and ready for the paint shop this weekend, but I may need to replace the trucks. The model builds up with an...

Its MONDAY 2-28-05, weekend modeling accomplishments!

I finished putting the detail parts plus some of my own on a Walthers undec wood express reefer. Ready for the paint shop! I also have to print out my own decals for it, too, and I have another one waiting in its box...I seem to buy these things in pairs. ;)

    Traction link

From you, Chris, I am honored. :) When I get the pair of Cannonball Car Shops B-W Class D loco kits, I want to do them in a maroon. I hope to get those switchers some time this year...they're going into production soon and I'm lloking forward to getting them. ;)

    Traction link

Traction is THE historic modeling aspect of the hobby that always gets 'oooooohs' and 'ahhhhhhhhhhhs'! :thumb: Just take a look at Chris Interurbans work! Here's one of my little switchers built from a kit. Under the wire....the ONLY way to go!

    HO Northwest Short Line Dunkirk

WOW!!! I've never heard of these, either! Great looking model, too. Just needs a toolbox, some chains, coiled cable, and tools hanging from it, maybe a couple of crew-type guys, and you're all set to pull those log buggies!

    Consumer Applied Details

Unfortunately, this 'consumer applied detail' feature is a production cost cutting measure that's pretty wide spread, not just with BLI. I bought two of the new Atlas H-24-66s with sound and decoders, and...ta-da! I have to put on detail parts like the end platform railings, etc. I just received...

Jerry's right...it's an Athearn FM H-24-66 Trainmaster. Looks like it's had a few xtra parts added to it like the sunshades. Possible custom paint job??

    2-6-6-2 Mallet Articulated

The 'United' brand name goes way back and is a Japanese builder of brass scale HO models. It more than likely was imported by PFM (Pacific Fast Mail) and dates anywhere from the late '50s to the '60s. Turn it over and you should find 'Made in Japan' if this is the case. Let us know....also how...

    am i wrong

I have a friend that is very helpful and just loaded with suggestions, some good, some not really for me. I try to read up and educate myself so that I know what I'm getting into. Especially when I'm paying for it! Everyone goes with Kadee coouplers...after doing my homework, I'm changing out to...

    3:35am and counting...

Not so fun here in Connecticut, either. The state gets it in horizontal bands of intensity with the least snow and ice near the Long Island Sound coastline and the worst along the New York and Massachusetts state lines. Where I live we got a dinky snowfall, but the rain will more than likely...
