    My Layout - No Questionaires!

Well, I have asked too many questions, and since it's Thanksgiving I thought I'd share my progress on the layout. I started it in May 2003. I used code 83 and code 70 Shinohara and 7 #6 and 1 #4 turnout onto a siding. My rail is spiked into true-scale pine roadbed ontop of 1/2" ply...

    Denatured Alchohol?

So now that we got all the scientific rhetoric behind us, I will pose the practical questions: 1. Can I mixed matte medium and denatured alchohol together and use it to bond ballast and other scenic objects on the layout? 2. Can you clean tracks with the stuff without it attacking the...

    Denatured Alchohol?

Is it okay to use denatured alchohol and matte medium when ballasting and doing other scenery activities? Is there any difference using the denatured vs. the isopropyl? Thanks, DOG

    Broadway Ltd New Locos

Has anyone seen the new E7's from BL? I bought one and am pretty happy with the performance so far. Your thoughts? Dog

    What say ye?

Brakie, I model the 1900's to 1945 era, but I like all of the locos, both steam and diesel. I have a handful of locos well out of my era, but I still run them when no one is watching them except me. I use #5 kadees on most everything that rolls ... Love the questions ... keep 'em coming...

    The Holidays are coming ...

I know many of you look forward to my posts, and I appreciate the many kind words you have forwarded to me. Tonight I am looking toward the next couple of months. With Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years right around the corner, I have a few questions for you: 1. Will you purchase...

    Your oldest loco

Flange, I just (re) started in model trains after many, many years. Truly, I am glad I don't have any of the older locos. The newer items run so much better, with a few exceptions. I started my layout in May this year and decided to go Digitrax DCC. So I ususally buy the DCC ready...

You make time for trains, but ...

Shaygetz, Dog is about 250lbs. and eats pretty light compared to a 250lb human. Dog is better than human because it never complains and when Dog is ill they are never faking it. Also Dog2 who's a pup and he checks in at about 150lbs, he's only 10 mos. old though. Right now the older...

You make time for trains, but ...

It's Saturday afternoon, and since most of us work during the week, it's hard to work on hobbies. Saturday rolls around and all I can think about is my layout and what aspect I want to work on next. Yet, although this may be going through my head (and maybe yours too), what other activities...

Will the real price please stand up?

I have been doing some thinking (which is quite unusual). I walk into my local hobby retailer and see a Genesis 2-8-2 Mike and the price on the item is $139.95 and you would like to add a unit to your roster. (I have one and really like the way it runs - smooth and quiet) Okay, so here...

How many do you really need?

Grassweed, Lighten up bro! Like someone said it's just conversation to get things going. And yes, it does get boring, I'd have to strongly disagree. When you start visiting this board often, lately there have been very few posts, and for many of us this is disappointing. So, get off...

Train shows, same old stuff or ?

To keep things interesting, I am going to change reels here and ask you some questions about the Train shows you attend: 1. How many shows do you attend over a 1 year period? 2. Is a stand alone buy-sell-trade show better or worse that a show that is tied to a convention or club? 3...

How many do you really need?

You guys are great! I just love the responses to these questions, keep 'em coming. I hope everyone out there in HO land finds the responses interesting and fun. Thanks for making the board not so boring! Dog

How many do you really need?

Okay I am very bored with the board again. So, here's another one of my crazy question and answer formats. Just tell me if you want me to stop, or that you can't live without my creativity. Now, I have a couple of questions for you: 1. How many locomotives do you really need for your...

HO with HOn3 Combined on one Layout?

Since I can see that everyone is now bored with the other threads, I thought I might ask a real question. My layout is 8x8 all HO Shinohara Code 83 and 70. I am planning to build a 2 1/2 x 10 "L" leg on the 8x8. I was thinking about HOn3 on the new leg. My 8x8 is 1900's to 1930's era...

    Are you a big player?

I have a manufacturing business in the land of California that is trying to destroy the last bastion of "making something in the USofA". So many companies have moved to Arizona, Nevada and Utah, it's amazing. Well, I have no plans to open a hobby shop, sorry guys, but if I did, here's what...

    Are you a big player?

I was just sitting here thinking about a thread about how much was spent at a Seattle train store once or twice a year. Well, that inspired me to come up with more of my whacko questions: 1. How often do you buy model railroad items in general, from any source, i.e. LHS, Mail Order...
