Model Of The Week: Kit Build Goodyear F2G-1 Super Corsair

Fuselage buildup I am going to assume that the last post above this one must be the designer. I don't know that for sure. But it sounded like it. I am amazed that I will be the first to finish this. It looks like a great model, and so far not too many problems. I usally build in 1:16 scale but...

Watercolor Penils Chris Make sure you have watercolor pencils and not just colored pencils. These are true watercolor mediums in the pencils. I dip the end in water and they paint just like a brush. In fact the color just flows onto the edges of the paper. Brand does make a difference.

Model Of The Week: Kit Build Goodyear F2G-1 Super Corsair

Watercolor Penils Thanks Bulldog Jigs are essential to this build, there is a lot of flex when you are gluing up. The superglues get hard fast and hold the position. Chris I use Stabilo Aquatico 48 pencil set, costs a little bit of money but last forever. Sharpen points and dip in water...

Museum Unbeliveable. I would not hesitate to give the card models to a museum. They are works of art and should be displayed. They are fun to make and I like looking at them, but that only lasts about a month. My friends like to look at them, but I think it is the beer that keeps them coming...

    U Boat Type VII C

Thanks, I find myself building different parts over and over, good thing its paper and ink. But you are correct it gets better as you build. I do this for the challange. Too bad we don't have a museum or something we can send these off to.

Coloring Ron I used sketchup pro version 7 to make the model. I am using the paint part of this program. I used a texture that I had available on my computer that was part of a program called ChiefArchitect. The texture collection include images of Formica Chips. I am sure you can go to...

    U Boat Type VII C

Yes they were soldered wires. The wire was stripped from 18 Gauge bell wire and then soldered and then painted. Yes the rails were a real bear, but the jigs go a long way for making it simple.

    U Boat Type VII C

These are shots of the Conning Tower. I started the build here because it seemed to be the most insteresting and complicated part of the model. The hull is under way and I will post the finished model when complete. I have seen the other threads on this build, and as always stand in awe of the...

Unfolding I use a plugin called unfold. You have to explode the model to its components, and then seperate them. I then unfold them with the plugin. It is not automatic. After the unfolding I apply them to a flat surface and then I send them to layout. In layout I am able to scale them to...
