    Photo Lighting? et. al.

I'm making the move to "studio" lighting for model railroading layout photo's using strobes. I'm thinking initially of buying one strobe kit with umbrella and maybe a soft box (if you guys think it will work). I will be adding another strobe, but until then I will be purchasing a slave to fire...

    policy?

I thought I had given up on this crusade, but I guess I haven't. Virus's produce colds, etc; not "cold" as the myths would have it. So people can stand outside and get cold and not catch a "cold" because cold does not produce "colds." So the smokers can stand in the cold till the cows come...

Reason for my absence - Rick Nicholson

Thanks for your thoughts folks. I back for a week or so before I run "in the dark" some more (no internet) so maybe I'll try to talk to some of you on chat in the next couple of nights. I have a new computer so maybe I won't get the boot!!!!

Reason for my absence - Rick Nicholson

I tried to post in trainboard but it had a bandwidth problem so I am posting here. I was called away on what appeared to be an informal medical problem for my mother on Vancouver Island. Unfortunately it was very critical and led to her death on the 13th of July in Nanaimo Regional Hospital...

    Someone fill me in please

"The ID badges are just what they say - something you make up - to Identify you at a show where you might meet other gaugers or people interested in joining the gauge" Hey, I do that, its called a "name tag."

    Calling all Gaugers!!

Maybe you'll have to ship a barbequed chicken leg out here to Vancouver with a corn on the cob please.

    Armchair work?

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Arthur C. Clarke The internet is a great way to get on the net. Bob Dole It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity. Albert Einstein Soon silence will have passed into...

    New layout so far.

You want your doubled track to be able to take your average lengths of train. The loop on the right, double tracked doesn't look like it would hold a train length as reflected in your double track on the main, running horizontally to the screen and room.

CHAT IS UP AGAIN :) :)

If we don't get chat soon, there could be a prison riot and if that happens no telling what could happen next - maybe even the sky falling.

Is there still a call for a DCC forum

I suggest you change the name of the forum to "DCC and Electronic issues". The computer - aside from DCC - is coming more into play and having an area where you can talk about all thing electronics and not just DCC will in the long run prove fruitful I believe. Or maybe "All things electronic...

    Trying again and still lost

With your reversing loop, you want the reversing section to be a tad longer than your longest train. The grey area in the reversing loop is where I would have the auto-reverser, but it doesn' look long enough when I compare it to the lengths of your yard.

Please, take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy/hate the current condition of the forum

And "Chat"? I'm hoping that is one of the things to come back

    FP7/9's in HO and N

Well, its been a long time coming but in HO at least the first Kaslo kits are available for the FP7/9's. Now I'm going to save you one step because Kaslo doesn't carry these (Huh? I hear you thinking) so don't bother contacting them. Central Hobbies put up the money to have these developed...

    Redesigning the Appalachian Central Yard

Here's a link to a chap in France who built the same layout but with some modifications. You'll see he has done an excellent job. By the way, some people I know including myself think the App Central is one of the finest smaller designed N scale layouts around. I haven't checked to see if...

I'm kinda bummed out right now....

Look at it this way, your wife is growing you another rail fan to go with you. Just make sure when you take the youngster railfanning, you bring along junk food, tons of pop, and always include a fast food restaurant in the mix; chances are, he or she will love rail fanning.

Speaking of antiques - from junk to gem - ebay

I just checked this thread out after posting. Yes, I am reporting a story. Rumour has it that the store is going to offer the guy more money; how much I don't know. No offence was taken with any posts here. I must be getting a thick hide, because unless some one is calling me an idiot or...
