I could have called it "outa luck"
Bought a Kato RSC3 at a show on the weekend, all my engines {10} are from shows and I;ve had good luck, they all seem to run pretty well, till now.
Put it on the layout,by itself, and it made about two laps{about 55 ft} then started to slow down, went another 5...
I'm in the same boat as NIevo,my layout is yp stairs in the garage.I started it when I was working and had big plans but disability has thrown a wrench into that plan.{boo hoo poor me} So build stuff in the winter and put it on in the summer{if we get one this year brrr}
Sleker
thanks for the response, but no,I can see one of those out my window.
years{many}ago they used a killer rig with a couple of steel arms that I think were drawn up by cable.lobour intensiv and dangerous.
There's one in the old movie "Walking Tall",the one with Joe Don Baker.
I'm...
Would anyone have a photo or link to photos of side loading log trucks? I could wing it but then I'd hate it every time I looked at it.
Thanks in advance.
Estilbe, for softwood and sedum for hardwood. There are different kinof each and some make better trees than others, but they fit my budget so thats what I use

That sounds Newfenese.
You could ,if you had one ,cut the steps off another shell,OR cut them all off and replace them with replacements from some detail company,or make your own out of wire.Best I can do for ya pally
G'day Mad
It's powered,an old pancake motored Bachmann that must have been in a set one time.Every train show/swap meet I've been to has dozens of them, all the same number. It is by the way a real number.
Nachoman,I have one of those cable type extentions on the dremel, lot less weight to manipulate.I also tried a pin vice and found it awkward, would have broken bits for sure with that, and at a buck and a half a piece we don't want that.
All I can do now is parrot what you guys have said, paint before cover with a colour like the cover so the plaster or foam or whatever doesn't show through. Also pre painting will give you an idea of what it's going to look like, you may want to use a different shade.I try and do mine about four...
Here there should be a photo{my sandard crappy photo}of my swap-meet F,that I practice on.You can't see them all but I was doing grab irons, aside from the ones on the side, there are some on the hood, beside the front door and on either side of the front coupler. These are not "store bought"grabs...
I've lived by tracks most of my life. I mind when I was little,my mother would time her washing{wringer washer, filled with a bucket}to the lineup. My father worked the section fro 20+ years .
I have a photo of the station/freight shed somewhere,I'll post it when "we" find it.
All my switches are Atlas snap switches ,they work ok but there's a few places that the "motor" looks bad, since I can't afford turtles I simply burried the "motor" beside the switch.I used the little tube that comes with WD40{heated,bent and cut to fit}for an actuating rod and made a balasted...
Well sorry,I don't actuall have the photos or the ability to give you a link, but if you go to Rapido's website, they have come out with PRE-WIRED telegraph poles! How cool is that?
{I won't be able to aford them, but it's too bleepin' cool for words.
Dial up puts me in an evil mood...Chessie,do something with that telegraph pole.Otherwise a beautiful shot like the bridge.
Sorry Wayne, his pic's came up first, meby I'll be more patient tomorrow.
I do summer because I think it gives you the most latitude, fall and winter are kinda short. Most fall layouts I have seen{in magazines}look very toylike, with the colours being too bright and unrealistic.Winter, for me would have cleanliness issues,it would soon start looking like early spring with...
